I like your honest appraisal of both these films, I was looking to maybe venture into the budget arena, however not sure its budget anymore, I will stick with my current stock and accept the price hike.

Great evaluation n pics...just moved up to 120. Every role of foma I shot in 35mm was rebranded Arista edu on the rebate. Turns out Arista is cheaper then Fomapan. I found this to be true price wise in 120 also...so it's Kentmere n Arista for me...

Beautiful shots man, well done! Both of these stocks look great tbh. I've recently tried Kentmere in 120 and really enjoyed the results!

Both look good!!! Since the bad exposure was just one frame, it's most not likely the film ... could be a fluke with the camera or for some reason your exposure was off!!!

I agree with you. Fomapan 400 in 120 feels like a different film than its 135 version. I've shot a ton of it in 135 and, although it's not the easiest film to get good results from, it's awesome when I manage to make it work. In 120 format, I've never been impressed.

Foma was much nicer, i love the contrast. I would shoot T-Max all the time if it wasn’t 2x more expensive

Have you heard about film developers and chemistry and how it influences the image you're getting?

Foma for sure. Kentemere has loads of midtone detail but no real contrast.

I tried to film a little in Vermont just on my phone, but it ended up getting too much in the way haha

Kentmere is thiner emulsion with less silver and fine grain . Foma pan has a traditional thick and gloppy emulsion and is grainy .

I wouldn’t push foma 100 to 1600. That would be extreme. If you want more contrast (than these shots) just shoot it at 100 and either leave it in the developer longer or even just agitate more.

This was Foma 400, not 100. 100 to 1600 would be wild haha.

Ah ok, my mistake I watched the whole thing thinking these were the iso 100 flavours

I hav ehad so many issues with Fomapan in 120 and 4X5 ( not 35mm ) that I have just about given up on this film brand. Shame.

I think Foma 200 metered at 100 in 35mm is my sweet spot.

@@BrocktonAnderson Depends on the developer to some extent. With Atomal49 you get about 160. But, otherwise they are about 1/2 the stated box speed.

In 120mm use Foma 100 or 400 and there will be no problems :-)

I'm definitely interested in trying 100 in 120. If it weren't for the low speed, Foma 100 in 35mm might be my favorite b&w stock.
