Nice lantern Andy 🏮😉👍 put the gas canister in the freezer for a good hour, when you fill it, you'll get the full amount 😉

The lack of mantle for the lantern is really going to reduce the luminescence I should think.
@Phirlax5 ай бұрын
It does reduce it. Lanterns such as this are basically made to replicate candle light or replace a small oil lantern.
@wayne75215 ай бұрын
Aye shame it didnt have a frame for a mantle. That'd made it worthy. I love my coleman, dual fuel.

The good thing is the cheap fuel it uses compared to those expensive canisters. Plus the small size makes it handy for a brew kit you can carry all the time. Yes, they do sell an adaptor so you can fill it from your other canisters and not waste them. Great vid. Liked and subbed.

I would not light this with a safety match! Come down to it, I would prefer an LED lamp with a small power bank for illumination.
@PulpParadise4 ай бұрын
If you're just doing an overnight backpacking trip, this would reduce the size and weight needed for a faux "JetBoil" stove, combined with the stove as Kent shows us here. As for lighting, I'll stick to my Luci light and not need anything but a little sunshine to fuel it. It stores flat, weighs next to nothing, and doesn't require any additional parts or pieces. Also, I don't need to be concerned about breaking the chimney and completely negating the lantern. When I looked at this lamp on Amazon, it said it takes isobutane, which is not the same as butane. As you were using butane, the results might have been different. I picked up an isobutane stove at a thrift shop, but after seeing how much fuel was, I got rid of it. (Food for thought.) Both propane and butane are significantly cheaper fuels. Thanks for the review! This is a cute little lantern but I think you already discovered the best use case for it with your stove. (Love your gorgeous Bengal!) 🐈😻😸Judging from the comments, you could easily create another channel with your cat as the star.

I ordered one a couple of weeks back still waiting for it to turn up. I will use it with my UCO candle lantern. Neither are for main light, just for a bit of background atmosphere. Not sure if I would bother cooking with it but it is possible especially with a dehydrated meal as you could get a boil in two minutes. It’s all good fun! 🧐🇬🇧

Thanks Andy for the video. The canister looks like it would perfect for day trip hiking. The lantern to be an add on and decoration for the camping site but I like your Hurricane lanterns better. Have a great day!

I would run it for a minute after filling it to create a bit of an area of vapor in the tank, because if it is full of liquid there's no place for it to expand and that can be a problem, on tanks with no relief valve that can cause a rupture. For lamp that creates a bit of mood lighting or low light it is pretty nice. And I did appreciate you getting some help there from the purrefier with the demonstration.
@cee8mee5 ай бұрын
I was thinking about that when he was talking about using the scale, adding until there's no change. Filling it until it wouldn't take anymore seems fine to determine capacity, but I wouldn't do that for use, either, without bleeding a bit off.

I have a couple of the little gas candle/lanterns, one is a bit touchy and has similar issues to what you experienced, the other I only got today is a BRS version which has a wire handle to open the main valve which is regulated then it has a rotary flame adjuster which is extremely stable and provides a nice candle light, I tried it out all evening as it is a stromy night here and it seemed an apt time to try it out
@edfrost64505 ай бұрын
Just bought one and love it for the glow. Really struggle to fill it though. Only managed once. Have just put it in the freezer to try once more

love the refillable tank. Coleman makes a lantern that has a socks like a larger lantern but you need your standard size gas cans for it...
@deannar94375 ай бұрын
I have an old Coleman Micro Peak one lantern that is similar. They are no longer made. They are very small (will fit in the palm of my hand) and have a mantle. They give off a nice amount of light for their small size and you arent reliant on batteries which is a plus for me. I can run my backpacking stove and lantern off the same canister of fuel. I paid next to nothing when I got it. They have really gone up in price since they are still in demand and no longer made. If you ever come across one at a decent price I would grab it. I dont think you would be disappointed in the quality.

not much use to me as a lantern, but as a tiny refillable gas canister i'd think it would be perfect as a backup stove for bushcraft overnighters, to make a brew on arrival, (or a coffee in the morning) before lighting a fire to cook a meal. with a tiny lightweight burner it would also be pretty good on a day hike to make tea.
@EpicureanHikers5 ай бұрын
I use mine for exactly that. A Brew on a day hike and occasionally cook a meal

@@EpicureanHikers I had a bit of a search on amazon and it looks like the canister is cheapest when bought with the lantern! I think I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on just the cylinder before I buy.

I just put a video up about using one of these lantern tanks with a gas stove. The tank, when delivered, is full of air. I found that it needed a few fills before you get the best use out of it. The brs3000 makes the cylinder very hot. I felt that it made it dangerously hot, but that's just me. The 3000 isn't the most efficient stove so I use it with primus crux that I had lying around without any issue. I look forward to seeing what you think of it after some more play.

I use 2 off them a smaller one and a larger one, they are in my opinion really great stoves, so much so I even bought my Niece one for her Duke of Edinburgh award a year or two ago, I think they are a Finland company or Norway I'm not sure but I managed to pick up mine in the UK, Love your work since soming accross your channel a few months ago.
