Күн бұрын

It was a two-day trip to get from Williamsburg, VA to Georgetown, KY. Although it rained the entire trip, it was still a beautiful drive. We stopped overnight in Staunton, VA at Walnut Hills Campground and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this park was. Unfortunately, the rain kept us from enjoying the park and our view from the site they appropriately call the "Outlook".
We finally made it to Georgetown, KY and Whispering Hills Campground. Luckily, Mother Nature was kind enough to give us a brief break from the rain, so we could get hooked up and settled in. The staff and park were very nice and they had a ton of sites!! (230 of them!) The rain continued for several days, which gave us time to get caught up on work and rest.
However, we didn't let a little rain stop us from doing a bourbon distillery tour! We chose Buffalo Trace Distillery, which was only about 35 minutes from the park (plus, they make a damn good bourbon). Unfortunately, we didn't realize the popularity of their complimentary tours… the tour that we really wanted to take (Hardhat Tour) was already booked up for the entire week of our stay. We had to go with their standard tour, which was still fun. We learned about the long history at Buffalo Trace and got to sample a few of their spirits! Be sure to watch the video to find out which one was our favorite!!
Finally, the rain stopped and the sun came out, so it was time to get out for a ride!! The countryside around Georgetown was very pretty, with all of the rolling hills and vibrant greens of spring. We got out on Lucille twice, both time with no specific destination. On our second ride, we explored the downtown area of Georgetown and found a great restaurant, Local Feed. Yum!
Even though this trip has to be cut a little short due to a family emergency in North Carolina, we still enjoyed our time in Kentucky. We are looking forward to going back and exploring more of the Bourbon Trail!!

You guys are great. Your videos don't feel like "the next video that we've got to do"! Maybe we'll run into you guys on the road once day... would be fun to hang out. Btw we did Buffalo Trace last year the same day we did the track and a UK football game. Great fun. In the past we did the George Dickle tour in TN. Talk about a great smelling place! Dickle is now my bourbon of choice! Safe travels guys. bg

Next time you get out that way go to the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, KY. Just like Buffalo Trace the grounds are amazingingly beautiful and the tour was great. NOTE: you will NOT want to take the rig up there if you come in off of I-65 - roughly 20 miles off the interstate(?). Very twisty ,uphill, skinny, 2 lane road with trees hanging over the road on some portions. We took our F150 and there were a couple of times we weren't sure if the oncoming traffic was going to take our side mirror off. But man, what a beautiful drive up there and back.

I drove there in a Mazda Miata. The roads are lots of fun for sports cars and motorcycles, quite smooth and curvy. Lots of beautiful farmland. But I would not do it with any sort of trailer. But I did see distillery trucks leaving, so it's possible.

I found this video while looking for videos on Buffalo Trace. I live in Versailles, KY just down the road. I hope you can make another trip to the "Bluegrass State" because Y'all missed so much. I'm sure the campground you stayed at was great, but also in G'town in the Kentucky Horse Park and the campground is fantastic. Plus you would have been at a place that celebrates another Kentucky icon the Thoroughbred. That and Bourbon are the top top KY icons. Unfortunate about all the rain because Y'all would have enjoyed a ride in the Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest. I really hope that you can make it back to the bluegrass. So much stuff to see. I really enjoyed your video and will have to browse your channel to follow your adventure. Y'all come back now, Ya hear!

If you go back to the great state of Kentucky try the "Bourbon Trail" where you visited many distilleries. (closer to Louisville), Corvette plant in Bowling Green or even the Kentucky Derby museum if your into horses as well as many horse farms near Lexington. (disclaimer, Kentucky is my home state although gone for 30 years). Thanks for all the videos. Chad, my Harley battery goes bad too!!!

Ah, the Bourbon Trail. Did that a couple of years ago...my wife said it was the most expensive vacation we ever took since I became a big fan of good-great bourbons and won't drink the cheap stuff anymore! It is a great tour and highly recommended. We went with a group of campers and rented a limo (split the cost) so none of us had to worry about being a DD. We toured many distilleries including Buffalo Trace. We also spent some time in the city and that was fun as well. Highly recommended destination especially if you like fine spirits!

Smoochies dat face, Daisy!! How old was that distillery building?. It was massive!! We bought a oak bourbon barrel from George Dickle in TN. A friend said to pour a gallon of water in the barrel and roll it around some. Ya get a gallon of pure whiskey! Then, use the barrrel for a yard decoration or run a downspout in there. We'll be on the lookout for some of that bourbon cream. Will ask Brad at River Street Tavern if he can get a hold of some. Great video, guys. Can't wait for the next one! Safe travels!!

We visited Kentucky in July 2018. We visited The Bourbon Heritage Center on the Heaven Hill property in Bardstown. After that we made our way to Jim Beam. Jim is a neat tour. You have a chance to bottle your own bottle of Knob Creek. We enjoyed that and was also able to personalize the bottle. 2 days later we toured what would be my favorite distillery we visited and that was Wild Turkey. The Wild Turkey tour seemed more personable and less commercialized. Bubba was our tour guide and he was a hoot. I was even able to get a bottle of Wild Turkey "Kentucky Spirit" signed by the living legend himself, Jimmy Russel. He's the oldest working master distiller in the world. He loves his job so much he hangs out with the tourists and signs autographs. A visit to Wild Turkey is a must the next time you come through. Also, if you're in the Lexington area and looking for a really good bite to eat, stop in at Carson's. Oh! Can't forget to mention Art Eatables in Louisville. Chocolates made with different brands of bourbon!

One of the best things I like about your videos even though I'm new to you is the fact that you're showing America that you don't need to travel to a country when there's soooooooo much to explore right here in the United States. I recommend traveling in the summer months to grand junction Colorado and Harley ride back east on highway us 50 towards gunnison Colorado. And over monarch pass . Then check out Richland Colorado ...i believe it is and tour the 5 canyons. On the way back stop down to Durango Colorado and ride the Silverton railroad... and Durango is only hours from 4 corners ... also from there you can ride to steamboat springs Colorado. In the northeast i recommend Vermont new Hampshire and Maine in the summer 👍👍👍👍👍

While not officially on the trail, the oldest distillery is in Athertonville. It closed years ago, even though they too had a exemption during prohibition, they never quite recovered. Sadly the distillery was the town and most of the towns infrastructure is now abandoned as well. Going south on 31E from Bardstown to Hodgenville, you’ll pass the distillery on the right. The building is now used as a trucking company sort warehouse. Another 3 miles south is Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home. Then about 2-1/2 miles south of Hodgenville is his birthplace home. All of these are free. Reply if your looking for other things in the area. If your looking for parking, my suggestion would be Bernheim forest in Clermont.

HI, John! Welcome to our channel! 😊 Between the two of us, we have 2.5 full-time jobs. 😳 I (chad) work in IT (systems integration and automation development) and have been with the same company for 18 years and have telecommuted for the last 9 of those years. Both of us work on our channel - Tara does all of our editing, which is a full-time job, and I also put about 30 hours a week into it. Nomad life is a great fit and we're so happy we can share it through our content!

OMG! Babe's Barbeque. Phil, do NOT ever let friends take you there on your birthday UNLESS you are okay with having to participate in the chicken dance when an entire line of servers show up at your table to put you in the spotlight. hahahahaha (Yes, I fell for it ONCE. Never again. LOL!)

Thanks! 😊 The red "cans" under out jacks in the video are Andersen Jack Blocks. We don't use them anymore because we've broken NINE of them (6 we bought and 4 replacements they sent us). Simply unreliable. The bottom edge would break off and they'd sink into the gravel / dirt / whatever. We've switched to RV SnapPads and love them. They don't help lessen the jack extension like the Jack Blocks did, but they don't break and they stay on the rig, which is great when setting up and breaking down camp. RVSnapPads is also going to be coming out with something called "stackers" that will help with the jack extension / stability. We'll be helping them prototype that and, of course, do a video on those when they come out. If you're thinking about buying SnapPads, use our link and get $10 off. (rvsnappad.com/discount/LANES10) Also, they are about $30 cheaper direct versus Amazon, so $40 savings overall. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

We use Epidemic Sound (www.epidemicsound.com) for our videos. As far as I know, the music isn't for sale directly, just licensed to creators for use on youtube. You're not the first person to ask about the music though, so I've reached out to them to see if there's any method in place for our viewers to be able to download the music. I'll put a blog post together if we find a way, so be sure to check out our web site (changinglanesrv.com) and subscribe there also. 😊 Thanks for watching!

AKA...Side of Beef. Just one side of beef is a lot. If the pub buys an entire steer, thats a huge amount to butcher up. Sad thing is, many as you say "source" their food items which come all nicely packaged, weighed to similar sizes, vacupacked etc. vs. the above. Historically, the best sources for beef is hand butchered by an experienced butcher who knows the many cuts and how to trim them out. Finding naturally fed and aged beef is getting to be scarce as the big conglomerates put pressure on ranchers to hurry up feed and raise cattle for slaughter, cheaply. Grass fed is good also corn fed is good if the corn is real corn vs a corn based "cocktail". Batteries. The one you purchased is nice but very expensive. I hope its service life is 5+ years. Also very reliable is the AGM style battery vs. the very dated lead acid versions especially in vehicles that yield much vibration. An ATV I use has an AGM battery, $79, and it's beginning it's 7th year of reliable service. Battery tender charge it, 2 Amp max, about every two to three weeks when not in use. Next time you're in TN and feel like being in the middle of noplace, head for Lynchburg and hear about the Tennessee Whiskey distillery, it's just about self contained, like your RV.
