Some of these truckers are the rudest assholes I have ever encountered. I can't understand why they don't realize, they need to to fuel up and then pull forward. I have had to confront a couple of truckers, and even had to go into the truckstop to have them ask truckers to pull forward from the pumps. One idiot was actually eating his lunch inside his truck while the rest of us were waiting for him to pull forward. I had a few words with him and he finally pulled away at about 2 miles per hour. He looked and sounded like he was from Haiti, so no wonder.

Asphalt millings work great. One layer of millings liquid tar over top an other layer of milling compact it. This will form a solid road surface that has lasted me in west Michigan for 20 years

I understand paving can get expensive. Have you considered Chip sealing? Looks like your truck has the power to get you up there, but the gravel is just too loose for the wheels to grab.

I have been watching a lot of your videos lately. This one has to be my favorite so far. Growing up in the 60s, I was fascinated with the space program. I was stationed at Edwards AFB when the 1st Space Shuttle landed. Your video provided some great insight and put this place on my bucket destination list. Safe travels. And thanks for the ride.

About "the type of gravel you spreaded last time": I have a suggestion Construction companies often have access to pavement millings whigh is the pavement residue when they tear down an asphalt road. Depending of your region these millings can be a good product to put in this section of your slope. Because unless the gravel you seem to have that turns loose quite easily (which is the reason why you got stuck twice), the millings when compacted can sort of "glue" together like asphalt would do. You would have less likely loose stone that makes you lose traction on your truck. I agree that 40k$ for twice a year isnt the best investment ;)

Thank You, Thank You !!!! you guys are doing an amazing job on educating RV-ers on what to get, what to do and what to expect. Especially newbies like my wife and I. You take your time in explaining everything .And do it in an entertaining way. This will be our first RV tow behind. 2025 Grand Design Imagine 2970 RL .34 1/2'. We pick it up the beginning of April .And after watching this video we can't wait to get started .Looking forward to keeping up with your channel. . Thank you for all the time that you both put in on educating fellow RV-ers. We're both retired and plan on becoming weekenders and then part timers. Looking forward to our new adventure together. Thanks to you Chad ,Tarra and Daisy Rick& Kathy

I have a long driveway at home base, and when it would rain a lot, it would wash out. So I had to put down a very hard packable SB2 gravel like they use for the base of interstates. When you get it it has to be watered and packed with a heavy duty roller machine. Around 600 bucks for a 75 yard section 10ft wide. I now have no worries when I go or come back home from trips in my 35ft motorcoach. Cheaper than paving the driveway. Chip n seal would be cheaper as well. I hope this helps. Marty Malone from Arkansas 🎉. Love the channel.

Maybe install a heavy duty winch on the front of your f450 maybe that is an option
@dhillman7522Күн бұрын
I was getting ready to write then saw @esthernewcomb4071 comment. This is something very common on high % sloped driveways. Just pave the part your having trouble with or set an anchor pole for a winch. Probably 50% 0f the problem is the added curve.

Air down all 6 tires to 45-50 psi, air back up at the cabin. We have a 44 foot Fuzion and pull into the sand dunes no problem when aired down, full water, utv and small atv in the garage. We camp 400 yards off the beach in the soft stuff.

Black bears are common in the southeast even in residential areas where they get into people’s trash cans. They rarely attack people. We are not talking about Grizzly Bears here.

Maybe dumb question but can you put a winch on the front of the truck?

I hate when truckers block the pumps while they take showers and grab dinner. I know their jobs are tough but that is so inconsiderate.

Maybe consider a removable (or permanent) winch on the ford with a few well placed winch anchors points going up the driveway.

Kinda of a late comment but it popped into my mind thinking about this video. I’m esigned to no dishwasher. Or laundry. But one thing I really hate in my Brinkley sink protected by a metal grid sink insert to protect the super fragile black surface is pulling out the sink strainer and getting the food out of it with paper towels and my fingers. We do try to wipe plates clean but some stuff just gets into the strainer. I tied those mesh ones, not helpful since you have to runse them. So my item is a GARBAGE DISPOSAL. Somewhere someone is seeing this and is making a device to totally macerate food waste.

Have you looked into a bed of crushed limestone? It packs pretty well and sets up a bit. Another option is recycled asphalt. "Recycled or reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is the most cost-effective option for driveways12. The average cost of RAP is just $10 to $20 per ton or $6.20 to $8.75 per square foot1. Homeowners that opt for recycled asphalt are saving about $675 to $2,700 on materials compared to the standard cost for hot mix asphalt, which is $100 to $200 per ton1. Crushed asphalt is another option for driveways, which is recycled asphalt pavement mixed with some tar"

Pave a small 30-40 foot section at that spot so the dually has a chance to get a little momentum

I can’t tell but that gravel doesn’t look dark, is it asphalt gravel? Asphalt gravel is a bit more expensive but it definitely is grippier than non asphalt gravel!

I agree with the part about people tying up pumps. I think some of them feel we can just pull up to any pump. People are very inconsiderate.

When you repair road keep in mind sliding in ice / snow! It's slanted AND curved! Your worst fear vid's nothin compared to Betsy ( your RV ), sliding waaayyyy into the trees and laying down!!! :))) The cheap way is salt before go up or down. The best way would cost a lot ... but then you guys are wealthy you tuber$ who can just wave a wand and have whatever you want right?

If it is just one area you get stuck in, try some crushed asphalt in that area. Cheap and pretty good to get traction on.

You need to put a winch on that truck and put a big concrete post in up near the gate. Lot cheaper than 40,000 for pavement

So here are some questions... do you off load Lucille someplace before entering your camp site? If so typically where when at a campground for might nights? Of these 1 nighters, do you keep her inside and strapped down? I'll have the same starting in 2025 as I move from a seasonal with couple trips to more cross country with the motorcycle.
