Documentary with narration by Merle Travis about Kentucky's music and history featuring rare footage from the Mountain Heritage Folk Festival and Smithsonian Folklife festival in 1970.
Features folksinger Jean Ritchie and also includes a song by J.D. Crowe and the Kentucky Mountain Boys during the ending credits.

Thank you for posting this. Merle Travis is great, but the real surprise comes at the 10:00 minute mark with the credits when the bluegrass band starts. That's Lexington, KY native, JD Crowe with Doyle Lawson on guitar, Larry Rice on mandolin and Bobby Sloan on bass.

Travis respected flat-pickers, too. Remember, he & Bill Monroe were both born & raised in the WESTERN Kentucky coalfield, separated only by the Green River.
