I think almost everyone here in Johnson County Ky is proud of Chris! He’s extremely humble as well. A while back Eastern Ky has a devastating flood (next county over mainly) and Chris came to help. He didn’t tell anyone he was coming or there, just started going into houses and started helping them move furniture and things out. He went to the local Walmart and bought water and supplies and didn’t feel the need to announce he was doing/done it. Stand up man Chris is!

I just came across this video and LOVED it!! I have known Chris since we were in Elementary school together. He was always talented in high school. Singing for our graduation, instead of giving a speech. Where he was valedictorian. I hadn’t seen him in years after graduation. Then one day I got a friend request from him on Facebook. This was around the time he was working on Traveller. I would see pictures of him and his family traveling out west. In the old Jeep. Next thing I knew his album was released and he was performing concerts at home right before the CMA’s. When the rest of the world was introduced to Chris Stapleton. I ran into him after he was really rising up in the industry. He introduced me to his wife Morgane. I honestly have to say, Chris is still as humble now through all the fame and success. As he was when we were younger in school. Thank you for this video!

I never was much of a country fan, maybe a song here and there. Remembered liking Tim McGraw in high school. But we took a trip to Myrtle Beach a few years back and Chris was on at every bar and his songs became an anthem. That weekend sparked our interest and opened our musical palette to this genre. We quickly learned that there is so much immersive story telling in country and much of the messaging was relatable. But when it comes to Chris Stapleton, I don’t think there’s a voice in the entire music industry that’s paralleled to his. Effortless range and his ability to sound country, bluesy, raspy, polished, mainstream, soulful, just… unique. I don’t know if there’s another artist better than he is right now.

Calling Chris country is misleading. Tennessee Whiskey, for example, was originally a country song but he sings it to the music and melody of an R&B song, I'd Rather Go Blind by Etta James, therefore making it an R&B song. Most of his music is pop, southern rock, or R&B. Very little, if any, true, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, country. So you don't like country, and that's okay.

I’m from the Netherlands and i’m hoping he will do a european tour one day. He is coming to the UK this year but it sold out immediatly. I heard Tennessee whiskey couple of years ago and bought traveller. I loved it…bought another copy for my brother and another one as a gift for a friend. When I bought Higher the guy from the record store told me that the vinyl was sold out in a second and in was unknown if it could come back quickly. In other words: he is very much loved with a small group of people.

He has played concerts in Germany before! So if he does a world tour again he will probably play here again
@drummerman19648 ай бұрын
@@selinamarie2ableSorry, but I don´t think so. He may have played a conert here or there before he became so famous, but I cannot remember a tour.or something like that in the past few years. Are there for example some concert-reviews ?
@selinamarie2able8 ай бұрын
@@drummerman1964 yes there a multiple concert reviews from his Berlin and Hamburg dates in 2016. Kacey Musgraves and Zach Bryan are also famous country singers and still have concerts in Germany (last year and this year). Chris didn’t stop doing world tours because he got famous that’s not how the industry works - skipping a huge market because you’re ”too famous“ would be a bad advised decision. Europe is one of the biggest music markets and all the big people play over here

Im not a massive country fan in fact im from Scotland 🏴, if that means anything at all probably the south has a load of Scottish roots singers and artists. As for chris Stapleton im a fan he has something very special about him. As for "fire away" thats a beautiful song , powerful, touching, true, and im glad he brought such a meaningful song to the masses.

I’m from Kentucky as well and while I was living on the West Coast the only thing people would ever seem to know about KY is the Derby. Country music has a huge following all around the USA. I moved back in 1999 to Ohio county which has a long history in Bluegrass music but I bet you could ask anyone who is from here and loves music if they can name any musicians that are from Kentucky and they would be proud to name off a list by group name and given names.

Such a great episode, and I agree the Fire Away video is so impactful, not to mention featuring one of my favorite (and underrated) actors, Ben Foster.

Thanks for a great run down of this amazing artist . I’ve been a fan for awhile now and can’t imagine not being . A few picks of my fav tunes of his is ‘Arkansas ‘ , this song rocks . ‘What are you listening to ?’ is a beautiful song . ‘Devil always makes me think twice’ kills it too . I love ‘Maggie’s Song ‘ too .

First time I heard “COLD” it got straight to My heart. The start of the song gave me the chills. Absolutely the best song from Chris. ❤

Nice production. I am a resident of Staffordsville and he and I grew up about a 1/4 mile from each other. His family and my family went to church together. I want to add that Loretta Lynn was born and raised just outside of Staffordsville as well.

I am also from the area when did they turn Oil Springs Elementary into a culture art center? If you go up from there my father owned property. We planted a thousand pine trees on a mountain ridge up from there. I would love to see those trees today. We planted about 1970

I heard of Chris for the first time when he did a Garth Brooks cover that shook me… I never thought someone could do shameless as good as Garth. When I started listening to his own music I was blown away, specially his versatility, doing songs like Blow with Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars, or his collaboration with Pink with Love me anyway… He has the kind of voice that moves you, and a talent that oozes in every song he sings, regardless of being his own or being a cover.

My opinion doesn't count for much but I think that you and your wife are honest the best. Love to hear your wife but Mr Stapleton you voice is the most amazing voice that I think has ever been around. I love to listen to you sing of which I listen to you everyday.....Thank you for sharing your talent. Annette

I remember reading an article about most anticipated albums in 2014 and Traveller was #1. Then I was watching the 2015 CMAs and was screaming at the tv knowing I was watching one of the greatest live duet performances ever that would go down in history- and it did. That performance was pinned on my Twitter acct for 5 years. He is definitely a once in a lifetime writer and singer.
