I live in Bardstown or as you called it Bardsville. :0) The hotel you pointed out was called the Talbot Inn. Oldest Tavern in Kentucky. Next time you come through here you need to eat at Mammys Kitchen down on the square. The history here is unbelievable. So many cool places and not to mention all of the distilleries and tours that you can take. We will treat you to Mammys if you ever decide to come back for a few days

The best 'travelogue' of these areas of Kentucky that I've ever seen; no lie! Ya did miss Georgetown College and the Toyota plant in Georgetown but that's not what you do kinda... I have lived in this area for 70 years and really enjoyed reading the 'story boards/markers' you focus on occasionally. Many thanks for an accurate view of the region! But, ya gotta visit the most beautiful small town in the United States: Madison Induana. Right across the Ohio from Milton, Kentucky (to me...) it's reminiscent of the line from Rocky Mountain High: He was born in the summer of his 27th year; coming home to a place he'd never been before.

Hey Russ, it's always fun to ride along and see the sights with you. I'm of two minds about heading out super early though. On the one hand you beat the crowds and traffic and it's nice to walk around before it gets hot. But on the other hand, nothing is open! I love poking around in small town antique shops, specialty stores and local museums but they don't usually open until mid-morning or later. Oh well, you can only fit it so much into an episode, anyway, eh? Until next time, happy trails!

I remember traveling to KY from my former state of MI as a girl at age 8. I visited all the Lincoln sites plus Bardstown inclusive of My Old Kentucky Home and later as a late middle aged adult watching the musical there. Being an upcoming young pianist, I was encouraged by the curator to play the very same piano Stephen Foster composed his beloved song. Back then, we were also allowed to take pictures as my mother had old colored slides of the parlor from there. However, haven't pulled them out in decades. Another earlier time and around early 2000s, my mother and I revisited all these historical sites and things naturally were not the same as multiple changes had been made. When viewing your recent 2023 tour scenes of these mentioned places, I barely recognized them because modern times have distorted the original property surroundings. Sadly, it's not the same and I can never bring myself to return back to them because I prefer to keep my former memories when first visiting them. My mother snapped a photo of my brother and I standing in front of the Clock near the Frankfurt Capital circa 1960. The wife of my cousin is from Hodgenville whom he met in the Army while stationed in Germany. My mother and I did countless family genealogical research at the old statehouse turned museum in Frankfurt plus at a courthouse in Shepardsville in Bullit County, KY. At some point and time, maternal family predecessors had legally owned a partial of property land where Fort Knox (gold depository) now sits on and occupies. I know my comments will date me because I'm now a retired senior citizen 🧓 who still enjoys traveling all over our beloved America. I've been in 42 of the 50 and desire to see much more. 🚙
