I think the type of drum heads they use matter also, those black dots carry a lot! Where as the black heads Ksu using is more of a dry sound

Your comments about percussion volume is especially true inside ans more especially in a poor acoustic setting, such as a gym.

I know that ASU came from straight out that bus to the gym. Haven’t had any breaks. 13 hour drive from the other state. I know they were tired.

I don't think it's fair for you to count rounds where one band doesn't play. There will always be a band that leaves first and they should not be penalized for that. Especially if it is not their home. The round should stop when both bands play
