What a dumb question to the DOT official on whether or not trucks should be allowed on a bridge! Don't people have ANY comprehension of what the trucker does for this nation!? I mean that specific truck was hauling FOOD....DURRR....how do you think food gets to restaurants and stores. Maybe the bridge should be patrolled more and aggressive drivers pulled over in a safe spot off the bridge to discourage unsafe driving and passing...bc that's what sounds like caused this crash, according to the witness interviewed on the bridge.

The second street bridge over the Ohio river is old. The speed limit is 35 MPH I do believe.

Yes. Yet, if it's strong enough, it can still support traffic. Old things are usually better constructed and that's why they have lasted so long.

Undeniably traffic counts are higher on that bridge now than they were pre-tolls. I do think KYTC will make some changes on this bridge with the frequency of accidents. The 10.5’ lanes are simply too narrow for the speeds people are actually driving. Some that I think they may consider: 1. Banning trucks during busy parts of the day. 2. Restriping the bridge to have three lanes. One in each direction, with the third being reversible in the direction with more demand.
