Coach Cal let his ego get the best of him. He thought he was bigger than the program. That will work in Arkansas bit that does not fly in Kentucky. Only ONE coach at UK was bigger than UK basketball. And that was Adulph Rupp, and he was program.

This guy is a little confused. A roster is not a team. Mark Pope has done an excellent job putting together a group of players (roster). But can they play together? Will they leave their egos at the door and gel together as a team? We already saw a player (Amari Williams) already question whether he should go back into the portal. At this point, I give a narrow advantage to Arkansas because they have a couple of player that have played together already. Again can they play together down the stretch?? To be continued!

In terms of making things up, why will I do that? Check the Uk Wildcat wire. May 2nd article. Coach Pope had a late meeting with Amari Williams to convince him to stay committed to UK. ​@Oldmanoverlander looking at both teams new roster. Arkansas only has 3 players that average 1 steal per game. None that average over 38% from behind the arc. UK under Pope new roster. Have averaged 1 steal per game, 4 or more assits per game. And only one player is below the 35% behind the arc. Which means Kentucky is now more of a defensive team that can force turn overs passes the ball and run and gun. Kentucky all day in this scenio

It’s always going to be easier for UK fans to believe we would take our roster over Arkansas just because they’ll have a similar team to what we would have if Cal stayed and most of weren’t excited about it. So really, for me, it’s just a matter of I’m more excited with Pope’s roster than Cal’s even if Cal has bigger names

@Tjmelt You're forgetting one thing, Kentucky has Lamont Butler, who shut down Johnell Davis in the 2023 Final Four and Jonas Aidoo was part of a Tennessee team that has relied on Dalton Kynect at times for them to win games that other wise would be losses.

Besides the fact that AR only has 7 players, I think its all about what you know you can get out of UKs entire starting 5-6 players and Cal having no clue what he's gonna get out half his roster right now. But position by position I think its UK by nose Butler > Fland - give me the guy who's all conf def player and been to a championship Oweh - Davis - no question you take Davis even though I don't think Oweh will start in this spot Brea > Knox - again, give me the guy who's played college ball for 4 years and shoots 50% of 3 Carr > Z or Thiero - This one is close but again I think I take Carr just by a nudge. UK fans know exactly what Z and Thiero can't do Williams = Aidoo push, almost identical splits but Aidoo did do it in a better conf

Pope just gives off the vibe as the type of coach that can coach circles around Cal. We have seen it too many times the last 10 years. There is no Tyrese Maxey, DeAaron Fox, KAT type talent on Arky’s roster to cover up for Cal. In his own words, ‘we can’t hide you’.

Butler < Fland - Lamont Butler averaged 9 ppg, shot 30% from three, 59% FT as a senior PG. And just because someone plays in a natty doesn't automatically make them a star. I also think the starting PG for the hogs will be Wagner who has better stats, in a better conference, on a better team as a freshman. Oweh < Davis - Davis will probably be a preseason 1st team SEC and potential All American Brea > Knox - Knox is unproven in college. Carr > Thiero - unless Thiero makes a jump again Williams < Aidoo - Aidoo was all SEC defensive team, All SEC 2nd team, and a major key in a top 10 ranked Elite 8 team.

Otega Oweh averaged 11 ppg at Oklahoma, Andrew Carr averaged 13.5 ppg at Wake Forest, Kerr Kriisa averaged 9.7 ppg at West Virginia, and Brandon Garrison averaged 7.5 ppg. Kobe Brea had 37% three point percentage at Dayton, Lamont Butler was on that San Diego State team that be an FAU team that had Johnell Davis in the 2023 Final Four. Lastly there is Amari Williams, he was 51.9% from the field. You think that this roster is not better than Arkansas, that is the beginning. Kentucky is targeting Trazarien White, Kris Parker, Baba Miller, David Coit, Berke Buyuktuncel, Ansley Almonor, Chaz Lanier, Wooga Poplar, and Jaxson Robinson. If you still think that Arkansas has a better roster, I'm sorry for the fact that you can't understand why in no way that Kentucky would have a less talented roster than Arkansas. Now if it was Kansas that we're comparing, I would see Kansas having a better roster than Kentucky, Arkansas is not better than Kentucky and will never be. Kentucky as a Program is 2 tiers above Arkansas. Every season Kentucky is going to have a better roster than Arkansas, that is the way it is and that is the way it will be. The Kentucky-Arkansas games should be called the Sutton-Cal Trophy from now on.

NO I believe this team is being built with 4 things in mind. First a team UK fans can pull for and fun to watch. 2 to be the SEC regular season champions. 3 take the SEC tournament. 4 to hang up another final 4 banner at Rupp. And if we are lucky the 9th National champions banner in Rupp. Pope already said his job is hang up more final 4 and champions banners in Rupp. Pope is approaching being the head coach at UK just like Pitino approached it in 1989.
