@@DaveC2729 Right? I like how they also provided a bunch of anecdotes as well that really illustrate how easy it can be to accidentally blow a limb off or execute your buddy and how a little bit of training can potentially save lives. I loves my guns but they are NOT toys. As long as you know what you're doing, it can be about the most fun you'll ever have.
@bdr32965

@@eamonia you got that right about guns not being toys, and if a person thinks they are toys they have absolutely no reason to own or handle a firearm. I love going hunting or going out to the range to do some plinking, and although I do not fear firearms, I do have a very healthy respect for them. But even so, there is always that thing that should be going on in the back of your mind that accidents could potentially happen and to be prepared if it does.

All the silly and fun times are great, but it’s always important to remind us of the terrible potential. My steel plates are always set to the minimum plus 10% recommended. (I’m sure they have a 50% cushion but weird stuff happens). In the last few months two weeks apart I had my Buckmark and my Model 17 explode. Bad ammo is real and I lost my ejector from my Buckmark and got some very minor burns. The Model 17 caused a sympathetic detonation and I shot my crane on my revolver. Fortunately I followed all the rules of safety including ear and eye pro so I got no real injuries and my revolver is really designed to shoot .357 so the .22 lr did nothing to it. (The Model 17 is really a full sized S&W design they use for their 686 just with smaller holes for the ammo).

@@MegadethTillDeth I feel John and I may be cut from the same cloth...After a very rough childhood full of abuse and homelessness, I joined the military to make something of myself. After spending 9 years in the Army (w/o reenlisting- thats another story), I came back to my Lord Jesus during my second stint and was married. All along the way, I saw a lack of manliness and an utter dearth of even the knowledge of how to be a real man and it's been increasing at breakneck speed. Everywhere I looked, men were longing for true meaning, for leadership and to hear, "Its ok to be a man, in fact its in dire need." Since the Lord placed this burden on me, I started teaching a men's group that centers on biblical manhood and accountability and has impacted men from many different churches and areas thus far. Let me end by reminding you that I'm just a nobody, but the Lord put something on my heart and like a man does, I rejected passivity and did something about it. I encourage you to do the same, Brother. Shalom and Maranatha! Numbers 6:24-26

Hey Scott! I really liked this video. It was funny but it also shows you how not to handle firearms. When I was in the 6th grade, a long time ago, a guy I went to school with decided to skip school with his best friend to go hunting. While getting everything ready, his friend handed him a loaded 12 gauge shotgun barrel first when it went off. He caught the blast point blank and it literally blew him into his clothes closet. He survived, but took many surgeries and skin graffs to repair all the damage. He was very lucky that day! Thank you so much Scott for showing us these videos because even though they're funny, they also teach us.

I would recommend purchasing dry fire safe dummy rounds, like snap caps. They let you perform weapons handling drills so things like checking the chamber become instinctual.

@@sebastianriz4703 Thanks and we did do a basic handgun and AR classes. It is actually required around here in the last couple yrs if you want to use the ranges near us because of all of the new gun owners. It was a flat out mistake that I'm sure happens to most in some way.

@@the_monkeypox_commander6603 I had a negligent discharge with a 38 revolver. Part of why I believe in God was the surreal circumstances where for the only time I could even remember, I was ALONE in the house/apartment. No landlord (I was in an attached giant suite), no landlord's son who lived there, all 3 of his dogs were outside, both my cats were outside, my lady was gone at her own house or school I can't remember. Was so lucky. Few of us know that feeling of skating by lucky bastards and the initial nausea at the thought of someone could have just gotta hurt on the other side of that wall..... Oh, and the deafening sound ... people never address that in movies hahaha Props for telling it. It's super hard to bring up stories like thst. I was pretty open about it because I felt like people had to hear it, but it's a really hard thing to admit. For me it was a great thing, because I never treated guns with that level of carelessness again. Taught my family how to handle them with snapcaps and to VERIFY empty chambers every single time someone hands you a gun

My father lost his best friend in the '80s on a hunting trip. His friend was out with his cousin and his cousin was moving a branch and a twig snagged the trigger causing the gun to go off hitting my father's friend in the back of the head. killed him instantly. super informative video man!

Lesson to be learned there. Never sling with one in the chamber. If you're point while scouting, it stays in your hands, and your buddy shouldn't have one in the chamber. If you're heading to your stand, nothing in the chamber and rely on your sidearm.

the year was 1989, I was going thru hunter safety classes up in Michigan... Our instructor was telling us what not to while holding a shotgun as he placed it on top of his foot..... not sure what made him pull the trigger, but ol' boy left that day missing 3 toes!! Love your videos, glad you are still here making them! stay safe

Scott's like that one friend you love hanging out with but your sensibility, or sensible friends, or jedi masters, tell you he's too dangerous to be left alive... or hang out with. i'd suggest a retest with dummies with muscles, tendon, ligament analogs in them. they're not super strong but they're tough and tensile enough to potentially affect the results.

What you said about crossing a fence, I have a book on US paratrooper helmets from D-Day that shows a through and through of a 30-06 when exactly as you described, a guy was climbing over a low fence and his M1 slipped, the trigger caught, and fired. Poor bastard

One criticism, the foot demo should have been tested with a 7.62x39mm round, as most foot "accidents" are being caused by this round right now. Also, tips or suggestions on how to conceal powder burns could be very useful to the Vodka drinking viewers of your channel.
