Would do this trick every 4 or 5 oil changes. Before I changed the oil, I would pull the brake boster hose, while idling add a hole can of sea foam, turn it off and let it set for about 10min. Then go drive it like I stole it (it would smoke like a coal train),then change the oil. The piston tops looked brand new. Sold the truck with 280k on, still ran good.

I'd do the same to my Celica. I had it in my teenage years all the way into my late 20s. I drove that car for 13 years like I stole it. Gave it to my brother in law with 320k miles on it and from what I understand, it's still running around here even today. Sea Foam is good stuff.

I bought a 98 Suburban awhile back that ended up having a dead miss just off idle. Bthe more I put my foot down, the worse it got. I fixed it by running it completely out of gas, then adding 2 gallons of gas mixed with 2 cans of Seafoam, then driving it, flooring it every chance I could. After about 4 miles, the miss cleared up and it ran great for the 5 years I owned it.

Never ever put a fix leak in a radiator. It will just create more problems by clogging other things up. Plus you will never get all of it out with a flush.
@ludicrous70442 ай бұрын
Correct- But you should use water pump lubricant with a stop leak additive. It won't harm anything and it works 90% The radiator in my S10 blew a seam and they said it would cost $350 to replace!! The seam driped a few drops when running and you have to add some water and lubricant. I did this at 50K miles thru 280K!!
@inthewoods3237Ай бұрын
If we had a hole in the radiator we’d use bondo on the outside! 👌🏼
@severussnap4373Ай бұрын
the trick to not having that happen is you have to drive it for about 30-45 minutes to really break up the additive , giving it no time to settle into a clump . i ran my sunfire for 3 years with a cracked radiator and i used the alumiseal powder . i did one day have to actually replace it but it was just fine as long as i made sure to drive it for a good while after putting it in , i must have used 6 or 7 tubes over 3 years .

I've used Sea Foam for years. My '05 Ford Escape wishes I had not. A couple of years ago a friend added it to my oil without telling me. I showed back up to my Escape shortly after and we took off down the road. My buddy told my about the Sea Foam and minutes later my 3.0 V6 developed a knock. Postmortem, i checked my oil and it was a bit over a half quart low. Nothing leaking or smoking so i was nearly a quart low when he added it. That is my fault. I had slipped on checking my oil for awhile as I was about to change the oil. For about TWO MONTHS! This is me telling on myself to say, maintenance is the life blood of internal combustion engines. Develop a plan to check your oil often. Change your oil per manufacturer specifications. My Escape is in a junk yard now. I drove it like I hated it. But it was quite possibly the best vehicle I ever owned. Oh yeah, the reason for the knock was due to the oil being too thinned out from adding the treatment. Like I said, my fault for allowing the oil to get so low. 😢

Two strokes love that stuff,but they have lubricity because of the oil/fuel mix, you'll blow the rings out of that engine with pure SF basically same as running it off of carb cleaner or ether..Thats why it likes the choke ,as its running super lean.
