I bought one just like this, in 1982, when I was stationed in Germany. I also remember, vividly, that it came with a $500 price tag at the Army & Air Force Exchange Store. I have no idea what it cost in the States at the time? I got rid of it in 2002. The thing was huge and heavy. If someone is into nostalgia, this can certainly still be used with a turntable, tape deck and reel-to-reel.

Looks like a nice piece. Kenwood made some nice stuff back in the day. I have a KA-7300 and matching tuner that sound quite good. Except for the fact that the STK packs may fail any day? I hear they are unobtanium.

Yeah, that’s the case. There are guys out there that will build conversion boards for sdk packs. I bought some for my pioneer 780 and they work great.

Lots of shops work on these. The trick is finding a local one. These are too heavy to make it cost effective to ship for repairs. There is so much inside of one of these… I wouldn’t be surprised if a complete rebuild would be shockingly expensive.
