Any easy fix for this Rotel RDV-1060 CD DVD Player? Repairing and or replacing the laser and pickup

love the repair videos...i was a service tech for 23 years working on electronics. watching these makes my heart warm and fuzzy. Now i dont think i have the eye sight or dexterity in my hands to do it anymore..but ya never know, .. thanks for another awesome video!!

Good clear video, thanks for posting this i ordered a defective RDV-1060 from ebay for 30€ a couple of weeks back and was prepared for a bit of surgery on it; same symptoms and behavior you've got here, so was going to follow your guide on a lark, I popped in an old cleaning DVD with the little brushes and it started working again immediately 😀first time that stupid disc has ever done anything, very happy

Hello i have some problem with my Rotel 1060 "Loading-No disk" May be you have a link where i can buy a DVD loader for this model (DV2-HP-Ali ) or a same?

It is not clear what you were soldering or de-soldering and why. Did you connect something to those points?

It's the antistatic loop on the laser assembly, basically a blob of solder shorting two contacts that you have to un-solder before installing. He talks about it and shows it in the video.

never ever thought those potentiometers. there are precisely set for laser diode power, if the laser doesnt have power then its a optics or electronics or is simply burn out. turning pots by pulling up power of laser is just killing laser diode with a very short time. its the same when the car engine have no power you will just increase the rpm to get nominal power from old not servoces engine. this way you just killing electronics and no produced lasers. also you need to get laser power meter to diagnose laser power not phone, its give4s nothing.
