I have the model above this one from last year... the DDX9906XR and it is capacitive touch, HD and full wireless Android and apple.. so far it has been a really great radio. I bought it in Clearwater at Five Star Car Stereo and got a awesome deal on it. I basically got it for less than the price of this radio.. My guess is it's still the same issue that if you want the "fancy" features that really should be included at this price point you have to step up to DDX9907XR. At least the audio is clean all the way into 5 volts.

I got it for $499 and I love it, had it since last year December of 2020, I've installed in a 2016 Nissan Rogue, I can confirm Wireless Carplay actually works and for Wireless Android Auto the phone detects the radio but since Motorola fails to send out Android 11 Software Update I'm unable to test that out. It's a really nice head unit touchscreen is really responsive to me, I do wish it was HD tho

I wished andriod auto would auto launch when i start the car like my old pioneer 4400. I just picked up a refurb dmx957xr from crutchfield. You have to press the aa icon which is annoying.

I'm about ready to kick the Kenwood board room door down during product discussion and rip the dry erase marker out of their hand. Wireless AA/Carplay, HD Capacitive screen, 5V preout, KNOB/done. Use their outdated interface even (my 6 year old DDX6904s looks same!), no motorized screen. Price it good, that's it!!

I still say, the DDX8906s is the best disc slot head unit Kenwood made. Wireless APC and AA, wireless mirroring for Android, AND it's 720p HD. All for 600 bucks. Kenwood IMO, need to stop taking steps backwards.

I have the Kenwood DMX9706S in my truck and got it on sale for $350 ($599+), although it is a good head unit I feel as if Kenwood is stuck back in 2012 with the look of the OS. I was I had looked up android head units before getting one. But I hope Kenwood makes there OS more streamline in the future.

I just bought one of these Radios and it does have Wireless Android Auto. Maybe they added it since this video was made. Not sure. But it definitely does have it. Using the Samsung S22 Ultra

I dont know why these head units cost so much when the displays they have are almost always terrible. Low refresh rate, basic resolution, and they just feel choppy when using them.

I have this unit and I’m totally frustrated as I can’t get the background photos to load properly with the Kenwood portal app. I’ve tried ALL sizes of photos and they’re TOO LARGE. They won’t fill the screen like they should 🤬 Any ideas on how to make it work? Thanks..

I'm also disappointed in the resolution, but I realize the manufacturers are concerned about longevity. Sure, they could give you an HD screen, but the unit will run hotter and in such a cramped space, bad things will happen.

And an HD screen that is 6.5-7 inches 3-4 feet away from your face isn't really required. The other thing you would need with HD screen is a better backlite. Trade-offs.

Dudeee so I purchased the 9707s but they gave me the 9708s. I can't figure out how to add pandora app to my unit. I'd like to display pandora as well as GPS simultaneously. Like out Spotify displays. It's kinda pointless when I have to look down at my phone to change the station/song. If someone has some input I'd greatly appreciate it. I have this unit paired with a s23 ultra. Thanks

It has wireless AA and cp. I have this radio and use it all the time plus you don't need the app to do display mirroring. My note 10+ can mirror using the smart share feature built in

I can deal without wireless. Just not at that price. I'm shopping for one for my 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee currently and have been near pigeon holed into a Pioneer 2660nex since they have one the that has Android Auto and HD radio. I'd love wireless, but trying to stay below $500 since I'd like to get a new vehicle in the next few years.
