Folks this headunit is the unit if you really care about the audio. The Audio features are pretty amazing, focusing on complete balance sound which can be calibrated for seating position in the driver, passenger or center position. Will input distance from speaker to listener location. Has front, rear and sub active equalization as well as decibel editing per speaker also. My uncles 20005 Silverado is like an accurate rolling studio and can accommodate most of his listening styles of music. One other recommendation is to go with a separate sub volume knob to control the sub amp only. The menu to get to sub volume is not friendly or quick to access. Thank me later.....

The new one which I just purchased is the best without navigation. The one I have also has DVD. DDX8706S. It has all the camera capabilities. Wireless connections to apple car play, and Android Auto. That's why I changed my mine from that model to the new one.

@@biga8230 I bought both and tested them. Both sounded very good and it's hard to distingush the difference. With both of the equalizers unadjusted and level, the DMX706s didn't reproduce ear-splitting highs - the kind of highs that hurt your ears. The DMX706s may sound slightly more smooth, but it's not totally discernible. On the DMX7706s i found myself dialing back the db's on the 10k frequency - where the highs were too high and hurt my ears. DMX706s with aftermarket speakers you can leave the equalizer flat. No need to adjust with my JBL GTO speakers

I have an 2006 Titan also. You should have got the Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX. They go normally for $1200, but Amazon has it for like $850. I went to Best Buy and got it for the Amazon price. I got it for two main reasons, I wanted a CD player and I wanted WIRELESS Android Auto and WIRELESS Apple Carplay. The Pioneer just looks to be a superior unit from features to the screen itself.

I have one of this radios. I use it with Android Auto but for some reason I can't make it transition fron day to night mode automatically, every time I have to change it manually from the settings. Was thinking of getting this for my daughter's 2015 Nissan Versa Note. She has the model with hard navigation, but because the nav needs an update SD card which is almost 200 bucks from dealership and she says she'd RATHER be using Apple Carplay, I thought this would be better money spent. Aux it has, cd changers haven't been offered in over 8-10 years (obsolete), not detachable (faceplate) (again obsolete for the most part), HI-RES audio not on this version, on the Excelon DMX706S I beleive there is, have to double check DAC

Hi. I'm looking at this unit for my 2016 WRX. It has navigation, but I don't need it as I'll just use Android Auto. A couple of questions, do the steering wheel controls still work with this install, and does the centre console still function as a connection for android auto? One of your earlier videos installing a new unit into a STi said that the centre console USBs could only be used for charging and a separate USB cable had to be run from the unit for connecting to Android auto. Thanks. Also, I visit Toronto a number of times throughout the year, how long does it take for an install?

Yes you can integrate your steering wheel controls to this radio (you will need an interface module sold separately). Apple CarPlay works via USB connection on this radio, not via Bluetooth. You can retain existing AUX ports but an adapter harness may be required (sold separately)

Phone mirroring is not possible with this unit as far as I know, you need to buy a head unit with an HDMI input, none of the Kenwoods have one (HDMI input) that I am aware of, except maybe the DNX9906R

My experience in a ford truck is that I can use the OEM ford sync Bluetooth phone mic and it is fine, but if I plug my iPhone into the usb and it changes the phone handling to Apple play, I had to use the Kenwood microphone or others on the other end of the call couldn’t hear me. Question... since no one locally has this radio yet. If you connect a 32gb USB thumb drive full of music to the unit, will it take a while for the unit to read the drive before it will play music? or is it pretty instant? I had a Pioneer double din dvd player in my old car (2010-ish), with a fast 32gb USB drive plugged in that I used for music. Any time I tried to play music from USB it would take the radio a good minute and a half to read through ALL the files on the USB drive before music would play. The worst part was if I got a phone call while listening to music... even if I didn't answer the call, the radio would kick back over to usb audio, and take another minute and a half to read the usb drive again even though the radio was already on and it had already read the drive. Super annoying. Pioneer tech support told me it was because I had too many folders on the thumb drive.

Spotify did load for about an hour, then all of a sudden it wont connect anymore to my phone. I do get Bluetooth music, but the Spotify wont read my play lists on the screen, it just says "disconnected". Also, what else can I do with this deck that I couldn't do with my 4 year old Kenwood?

Hey if you dont have your parking brake bypassed you won't get all you features if you wanna bypass it it's super easy all you have to do is connect the bright green wire from the wiring harness to the back of the stereo

ddx794 is the best SOUDNING kenwood excelon unit that has been made in the RECENT years, seems as if everything that is made after this unit sounds "muddy" and not as good. alot of JVC circuit parts probablly are being used now , and the radios just dont sound as good, i had this unit (full sized one) kept it for a few months then sold it, went back to ddx794 and my good sound is back again. this headunit was not as bright sounding and seemed to lack alot of high end freq response. with my 4 channel amp and components i can hear a HUGE difference. and yes both units were installed correctly and settings were adjusted, i was exciited about this unit on paper specs thats originally why i ordered it seems to be have better specs then the 794 except the damping factor . damping factor is 99 on the 794 and i believe 89 on this one. ALSO you cannot adjust the panel angle on theese media receiver units, another huge problem. i ordered a ddx794 online they send me one of these units instead and did not notifify me , i returned this unit the next day got my refund and found a ddx794

I just picked up this unit for my truck project. I was so excited to fire it up and listen, I was so disappointed. Playing Bluetooth through my phone to it through spotify... Just doesnt sound that impressive. Past stereos I have done in my boat and other vehicles have been amazing and provided hours of pleasure. Maybe its a Bluetooth issue I dont know. No not on board, you can use Android or IOS for nav, but there is no on board navigation with this unit

It should, as long as you have all the supporting accessories (ie. dash kit, wiring harnesses, antenna adapter, etc.)
