Ive just Finnish installation of this, its amazing and love it, once you set it up, down load the app, just plug in your phone and everything what the s20 android phone can throw at it. GPS any music you love to hear or movies, and all your contacts list. And hell of lot more to play with even news on the fly, and top it off, you can speck to it and brings up what ever you like or need. Dont let this go, really buy one. And you will see what i mean. Enjoy

Kenwood needs to make all the DMX radios short chassis. HD screen + short chassis on the excelon DMX units would be a home run.

How do the buttons feel, premium? The cheap kenwood, jvc, etc. single dins always feel really clicky and cheap.

Is this a comparable radio to the kenwood 1057xr with the floating 10.1 screen..yes the screen is smaller but is it the same type of screen..the only major difference I see for my Apple CarPlay daily driver purposed is the screen size and price

Yes, this radio is identical to the DMX1057XR, only difference being the small 7" screen versus the DMX1057XR's 10.1" screen. If you don't need or want the larger screen, then this is for you. However, they just released the DMX958XR, which is 2023 version. We will have a review up soon.

@@LockdownSecurity from what I’ve seen it’s the same head unit..and the review I seen tested for true 5v output from the pre ours and it wasn’t a true 5v output and it apparently has quite a loud hissing noise on some models that can be heard when the car is off..I’m referring to the 958xr

kenwood, although a bit pricey, would be a good upgrade for your element. If you plan to add a rear view camera in the future (which is a very useful addition/and not complicated), your radio is already capable. I have an older model kenwood dmx for my 07 element, but not as good UI as my kenwood dmx906 on my 16crv. This is a newer model which should be almost the same as my 2019 dmx

Is there an equivalent receiver that also has GPS navigation built in? From what I've been told, Pioneer is the vendor that provides this feature, plus their map data is free upgrades. I don't know if this is true, though, just anecdotal data. I'm still hunting for that elusive receiver that has GPS navigation with free lifetime maps, mechanical buttons, good quality wireless mirroring, and iDataLink Maestro that can connect it to my Honda 2009 Civic EX sedan with navigation.

GO into the menu, find the factory restore/reset menu, hit reset. Or unplug the radio for 10 - 30 seconds. Or, disconnect your battery for a few minutes.

Tough to show this, as it is depending on the specific Android phone to enable wireless mirroring, and for example, my personal phone is a Google Pixel 5, which does NOT provide wireless mirror support, without using a Chromecast device (which itself, requires a radio with an HDMi connection). Smartphone mirroring is a very gray area feature in the car stereo industry, as not all phone support it, not all radios support it, and some (like Kenwood) have apps you use, which will only do mirroring via USB connection.

A 1280x720 screen would be 921,600 pixels but Kenwood claims it's 2,764,800. A 1920x1080 screen comes in at 2,073,600 pixels. So at this price point I'm not going to waste my money on a product built by a company that can't manage to do basic math🤔

Ill never buy a kenwood excelon again, i kept getting dc offset error, spent a ton only to have it fixed for a little bit and come back, bought same model from someone, same thing just happened after a year. never again. dont buy from kenwood. they're garbage

I actually almost went with a 4500nex just bc it was cheaper but after hearing it side by side with the dmx957xr it was just no comparison. Also the pioneers were being returned after dying within a year and a half
