The paint stripe scheme you referred to in the beginning was called the “Salem” scheme….they fit the K-series cabovers very well. Used to be that the different brands had distinctive stripe designs that set them apart…..now, it’s hard to tell them apart.

First cabover I drove was a 1989 Peterbilt hooked up to a 48ft 8 axle flatbed. Had a 13sp with a cat in it. Loved that big ol bed in it lol. My favorite is the Kenworth K100! I really like the Australian K200 which is now the K220! I wish Kenworth would bring them back. In my opinion it's actually a need for them now more than ever. International is a close second only because they came with the flat floor 9800 serious.

That was a nice truck. The first cab over I drove was a 1966 GMC Crackerbox, with a sleeper (small) 6 - 71, 5 speed transmission, 2 speed drive axle, with a tag axle. Used it to pull a 25 foot dump trailer. I started out on a 1966 Mack R model.

I took a job repairing furniture and warehouse handling for the van line when I was 21yro. I wound up driving on accident because they were short handed. Anything that agent ran with diesel was a cabover that was 20-30 years old. Shutters, front wheel limiting valves, single system air, and all the bounce I could stand.

Hey, Dane..."Killer" video, my friend! Your "old school" stuff is always new and refreshing. For as long as I can remember, cabovers ("cabin-overs" as one trucker once told me!) have been a part of my life, either as a truck enthusiast, or as a driver. When I was a kid, the "Cannonball" GMC cabover had me "glued" to the TV. On the road with my Dad during family vacations down the Jersey Turnpike, I always kept "an eye out" for those classic McLean trucks!! International Emeryvilles also topped my list. Out of truck driving school in 1990, my first gig was with North American Van Lines...truck "of necessity" was -- you got it -- a "battleship-riveted" Freightliner cabover!! Even built AMT scale models of 'em!!! Fabulous show, pal. Thank you... 😊👌👏👏

If I was the King I'd bring em back (a little modified of course) just don't get up on someone's tail ( not wise at all) great video Sir. I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio and live in Rainelle WV the last 34 years and there easy to do certain things mechanic wise on, If I was young and was gonna go in the trucking business for myself it'd be a Cabover !!! O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Cabovers Rule…still! You can take that to the bank! My dad had a 1970 K100 that I loved to take a nap in. I was about 5 years old & could climb up into the truck & lay in the bunk. They knew where to find me. LOL! I can remember many of those cabovers being out on the road! Loved those old trucks! Dad would get calendars from Kenworth & several trailer dealers. I even got a deck of cards with KWs on them. Not sure what happened them. I dropped my subscription to Wheels Of Time, regretfully. Gotta get a couple of copies though. Jerry Howard had lots of those books from over the years. We may get to attend the Cerni Motors Show. It’s OK to love the cabovers & conventionals both! There’s a place in everyone’s heart for a few trucks! I haven’t met a truck I didn’t like…except for Volvos. Yep, that’s right, I don’t like those Volvos. YUK! There’s always something to do on these old trucks! I like the blue on the rear axles! Good stuff, man! Blessings! 🤩🥰✌️

K-100............WOW ! I had one of "them" too.......among the almost 20 GMC rust buckets I had as hobby/work trucks over the years since 1951. My k-100 was bought in Millersburg, Ohio in about 1985 with a "sick" V-12 DD engine . I say sick, because both cylinder heads were laying across the frame, due to a failed lower radiator hose somewhere in West Virginia . So I bought it, then bought another known V-12 out of a '74 Marmon, and had the students at Ohio Diesel Tech swap cosmetic parts to install it in the KW . My initial thoughts were to put it in local truck pulls.............till I woke up and realized my pockets weren't deep enough.
