Thanks so much for the shout out Steve. I’m very humbled by that. Perhaps sometime in the future we should all organise a get together. Logistically it would take some thought as Pete is in Cairns, yourself Matty and Dave NSW and I thought Jake might have been in Victoria, but I think anything is possible. Good video btw, the 871 is probably still ringing in your ears a week later.

Hi mate it’s my pleasure and was good to talk on the phone also. Hopefully a few went over to have a look at your channel. Yes getting together with all these blokes would be amazing. I’d say they would be all up for it aswell. We would have to organise a time and place and see what they all think. The blokes I’ve spoken with would certainly be down for it. Yes the 871 is still heard days after using it mate😅😅. Well worth it though. All the best Bruce and keep in touch mate about this

Awesome ran one of those slim lines with the 871 for 6years as a tipper in the 90’s best mod we did was to put turbo on it not for power but to tame the bark cuts the noise by half without touching the fueling almost a gear better also and boy after a full day in one of those you have to learn how walk again good show JA

Hey Steve thanks for the mention A nice surprise for sure! Another nice find you’ll have quite the collection going on at your place that’s for sure. The old 8v71 sounded awesome, my truck suggestion only because I have first hand experience with one, a scania T112 gumboot, I have one as a truck and dog I brought it for 5k it’s an 86 model and is honestly more comfortable than reasonably new kenworths, I’ve done 70,000km in it and spent under 10k on parts that’s including the engine rebuild I had to do after I did 35k it dropped a liner. Everything is still available for them and parts are very cheap, the only bad thing about the L9000 is rust and any cab parts/ ford specific parts are hard to find you’ll be limited to mostly second hand. Anyway good video cheers mate👍🏻
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder 6 ай бұрын
Hi mate it’s my pleasure. I’m getting a lot of stuff mate yes. I’ve seen the Scania you have there. I watched an episode a while back when you were working on it. It doesn’t really have to be a ford but something cheap of the same era. One with a decent cab would be good but see how we go. Certainly no hurry for it. You have a good channel going mate and keep up the great work also.

Thanks for the little trip Steve I've retired from my driving work so I need to do a trip with you in the old Kenny,i got my semi licence in a 124 KW v8 71 but it had Jake's so I was in heaven,no other sound like them .That was a long Tunnel,how long in k's you said about 8 minutes,fantastic roads compared to here in SA . Thanks as always Mate ,oh and I drove those 94 Ford's with series 60 pretty basic drivers seat was always referred to as an upholstered railway sleeper passenger seat was worse it wasn't even air ride,so you will need pillows LOL. Cheers Kym Adelaide
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder 6 ай бұрын
Thanks Kym. I’m glad you could come along. This old girl has Jake’s on her but I don’t use them much. I think the micro switch on either the clutch or the governor is playing up but certainly has them. Tunnel is great and eliminates the struggle of traffic and lights on pennant hills road. Kms I’m not sure but 80 kms an hour for a bit over 8 minutes. The Ford doesn’t have to be exactly that but I like the layout of those ford cabs and not a bad looking rig for a later model. Just something around that era so I can still get the historic rego. If the seat is like you say I can certainly change that. I haven’t had anyone contact me about one yet so it may never happen. Just a thought. Thanks as always Kym

Hi Robert the exact length I’m not sure. Yes I’ve seen him. He does a great job. Not something I always watch though because it’s all to do with parts off machines that I actually work on for my job so I tend to only watch stuff to do with my interests and have time away from it I guess. Very handy bloke though. Thanks for the great compliment mate.

Mint trip out mate. Cheers for Matty's channel shoutout. Good luck on the truck hunt.👍🏻 You light problem made my laugh, I do a light check when my geriatric Landy is warming up too. After unfucking the previous owners efforts and putting rtv where the lens screws in, I've not had any major problems.🤞🏻 I bet I've just cursed myself, haha🤦🏻‍♂️ Is it worth putting elastic or zipties around the contacts to squeeze bulb tight?.

Hi mate thanks. It sounds like you’ve been through it too🤣🤣🤣. Yeah I could do that so they don’t fall out. I’ve never really thought about it before because it’s always a last minute thing to fix one. It’s hardly when we’re drinking piss with plenty of time. Not a bad idea at all though.
