For 1500m that's good for the US... Lagat won for them in a one-off, but he's an ex-Kenyan. They use tactics and cut people off. That Ethiopian was a nuisance and they used him as a bit of a blocker as well. They run as a team.

O well. We have only won 3 gold in the 1500m - Jack Lovelock, Peter Snell and John Walker. Jack Lovelock is an interesting case - threw himself under a train in the New York subway like Anna Karenina. Couldn't live with the shame of winning Berlin 1936 with Hitler watching, I guess. Still, the Americans are the greatest athletes. I still remember a guy called Bruce Jenner. He was a big hero in New Zealand. Wonder what happened to him.

He was doing quite well until the Ethiopian guy cut in front of him... he could have gone with the big Kenyan at that moment if he had not been cut off. The thing is you have to be right on their ass or things like that can happen. Also, if the big one had not gone then the Kiwi could not have caught the little Kenyan, as he would have been boxed in.
