I confess I don't know Ruto. He must be commended for changing his mind and wanting to engage with the demonistratirs something unusual coming from African leaders. Setting buildings on fire and violently entering gov offices clearly is no solution. While the journalists have done their professional job, clearly their main focus seems to be exposing and humulating the president. Investigations should be fair and not one sided.

Mr. President the cry for withdrawal of the bill was before the debate in parliament. You closed your ears and eyes to those cries. You assumed you know best. You assumed Kenyans did not know what was in the bill and if you did you cared less because performed the bill must go through. Just take full responsibility of what happened.

From Today, as a Nigerian who is politically balanced in reasoning, I hereby confess that Kenya is in another planet way ahead of Nigeria in political maturity and tolerance. @ObetaInnocentobecks I smell ignorance or semi-stupidity in this comment. Tinubu did not lie to the citizens during his campaigns. Ruto lied to the citizens just like what Obi was doing in Nigeria. But because many Kenyans did not understand the lies, they voted Ruto and when he got there and saw the reality, he changed his way, hence they are calling him a liar. So, if Obi had won in naija, he would have end up crying like Ruto since he was very ignorant of the real economic situation in Nigeria. Tinubu contested on facts and he acted based on it. Many Nigerians are very knowledgeable of the economic situation so they voted against Obi who was talking trash and lies.

As an American, but a hopeful future citizen of Kenya (through marriage) I just wish the best for the beautiful nation of Kenya. I absolutely loved and hope to live in peacefully one day in Kenya. We also have a lot of struggle within my own country and politics. Politics is never easy, though we can only hope that the one in charge has the best meaningful intention to improve the countries standing. I often times don't believe that to be the case with many of the presidents that we have had here. It's like they follow their own donors "Suggestions", instead of the people. So I do understand this frustration and I am not just an ignorant American who wishes that Kenya is a puppet state for the United States. I want the United States to leave other countries alone and not to interfere within countries for the benefit of these rich corporations. We the people of the United States do not benefit when the United States interferes in other countries business. In fact it's our tax money that they are wasting, to profit these private companies. who in no way share those benefits with us people here. Anyways you can see my struggle within my own opinions of my government in the United States and I am a freely minded person who just wants the best outcome within the range of likely possibilities of the current situations that we are put into. I can't speak for anyone, but I think the youth and protestors should allow President Ruto a chance to engage them and to discuss these broad ideas, to bring their opinions and suggestions to solve the issues of this great nation. I'm not on the ground in Kenya and i haven't been for a year. I don't know anyone involved with these protests , so I don't know what they are saying or suggesting for these topics of debt, corruption, taxes, jobs, ect. I mean I hear "Ruto must go" , but that's not a meaningful suggestion, even if you deem in necessary. Let me say it this way. You might think removing Ruto is the best solution. Sure, let's say he is removed today. Then what? Which policies are you demanding? How will these debts and governmental services be paid? Removing a leader should be absolutely the last option on the table. The potential results in a removal of such kind have not often resulted in the best results. I'm sure you can point to some situations in history, but I feel that is a very dangerous and uncertain road, that should only be taken at the last step of the process. At this point I don't think Ruto has had a real opportunity for discussion yet. In my assessment it appears that he is actually shocked, but he knows he needs to do something serious. Of course he could have been doing better. For now he sees the red anger in the eyes of the population of Kenya and he knows it is serious and time to listen. I suggest he should be given the opportunity for this conversation of ideas. Ensure he gets the opinions and suggestions of how to move forward to solve Kenya's problems. Now once it is ensured that he has heard the will of the people, but he then starts moving in the entire opposite direction without any compromise or willingness to settle, then you can be assured that he is a bad leader. But for now the fact that he was withdrawn this bill, it shows me that he has been a bit shocked, but he is willing to listen to the great people of Kenya. Let's give him a chance because he has not inherited a great situation. In fact all of the world is struggling with inflation, the economic difficulties of Covid and a lot of other just terrible things in the past few years, even before he stepped foot into office. Thanks for taking the time to read, I only wish the best for the people of the Kenya and you have every right to agree or disagree with my comment. I know I'm a foreign observer, but I do plan to live in Kenya one day and to have children with my current fiancé there. I love everyone who I met in Kenya, they are very amazing people.

And it's through Ruto that I learned two years ago that we should probably refrain from commenting on other country's politics because we know very little compared to those who've lived, gone to school and worked throughout most of their lives in those countries. Some of those who were full of praise for him then cringe because they now realize that they knew woefully little. And yes,we are very informed. Some of us (like I) studied in the world's best universities and have work experience in the most competitive workplaces abroad. 10 years later come and read this comment and be surprised by your naivete. You cannot take politicians at face value, not in "developing" countries.

LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT 10 President William Ruto Office of the President State House Nairobi, Kenya Dear President Ruto, I express my profound disappointment regarding your comments about the tragic death of a 12-year-old boy (RIP Kennedy) who was shot and took in eight bullets. In the face of such an unfathomable tragedy, your response was shockingly insensitive and disturbingly out of touch. When asked what you would tell the boy's mother, your first reaction was to inquire if the boy was still alive. This response not only highlights a lack of awareness but also underscores a deeply troubling detachment from the realities faced by ordinary Kenyans. The boy, in fact, passed away, and your inability to acknowledge this heartbreaking fact reflects a gross insensitivity to the suffering of his family and the community at large. You may fail to know about dead adults. For heaven's sake, a child was killed by the police. How could your communication team fail to bring this forth as a matter of urgency? A president is expected to exhibit empathy, understanding, and a connection to the people he serves. Your response demonstrated none of these qualities. Instead, it conveyed a profound disconnect from the pain and grief that this boy’s family is enduring. It is not enough to merely hold the office of the President; you must also embody the compassion and responsibility that come with it. This tragedy should serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for better security and stricter measures to protect our children from violence. Your role, Mr. President, is to lead with empathy, to offer comfort to grieving families, and to take decisive action to prevent such senseless acts of violence in the future. The mother of this boy, along with countless other Kenyans, deserves more than a confused and detached response. She deserves acknowledgment of her pain, a sincere expression of condolence, and a commitment to ensuring that no other family has to endure such a tragedy. We urge you to reflect deeply on this incident and to take steps to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the well-being and safety of all Kenyans. Only then can you begin to bridge the growing gap between your leadership and the people you are meant to serve. Sincerely, Charles.

*Beautiful Letter penned out to our undeserving President. RUTO is angered by the supposedly criminals who made him lose face with his international cohorts . As I learn about Rutos psychology , he is a man with very low self-esteem. He badly wants to eat at the cool kids table . He detests where he was raised and how he was raised . He wishes he was a dynasty and wishes he was as articulate as his rivals. RUTO is a narcissist . He cannot sympathize with those he has hurt because they mean nothing to him . He would rather sympathise with people who can give him something . RUTO is a very dangerous man, we have a lot of work on our hands so help us God. His demeanour shows us a man who is kicking and screaming to retain power but doesn't know that he no longer holds that power. IT IS DONE Ruto. It's only a matter of time . RIP to all those young souls that lost their lives to save us from this tyrant and neo-colonizer. This is a spiritual battle so help us God.

I like the questioning by the journalists. Very good for a maturing democracy. It also gives the president to state the side of government effectively and we can make an informed opinion. Have seen many situations where conclusions are made, and names are tarnished unfairly.
