This alerted me to the development of Kenya and l am very pleased to learn of it. The beginning part which has the familiar and tiresome complaint that good news is not news could have been cut and the reasons why the economy is performing so well explored in more detail. Stable government and sensible administrative reforms are part of the reason but there are other factors such as the creation of an export processing zone, investment in education and the development of financial services. This is important because it demonstrates growth is broadly based and therefore sustainable. If you look to the future the prospects are far better than economies based on a single commodity or sector. That is the real good news story.

My good friends in Samburu and Turkana would not recognise this country you show here... Regions largely forgotten by government for education and standard of living... tribal violence reaching epidemic proportions due to scarcity of resources (natural and man-made), resulting in daily killings and robbery of meagre cattle and livestock.... I don't know where to continue... No doubt some areas of Nairobi and wealthier parts (perhaps more Kikuyu people?) are flourishing...
