I have lived here all my life and I can assure you Kiswahili is dynamic and has been evolving over time and very dynamic… Tanzania is a big country with multiple cultures, bordering 8 countries including southern African countries such as Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique also Eaatern Central African countries such as DRC, Burundi and Rwanda. You dont expect a country with these geographical dynamics to have a static culture/ language

It can actually be a choice. I am Kenyan and I can without second guessing, speak Kiswahili sanifu (A plain in High School) easily if I wished. But it’s too rigid, I prefer to either go for English or our dynamic Swahili (sheng or what not😅)

I am from DRC. I am learning Swahili. The impression that I get sometimes with Swahili sanifu is of extreme conservatism just for the sake of it. It's like in French: you can speak excellent classical literature level French without using obsolete grammatical structures that you find only in old books.

Both we Kenyan and Tanzanians are but hilarious in our national languages. In Kenya kiswahili is a day to day business, street fun transactions language leaving us with English as our national language and mainly our local dialects at hand for life communiques but in Tanzania kiswahili is their mother tongue, and life running language in all their almost round the clock in and outputs. So my President is right.

you can speak as many languages as you wish not just one.... you can learn English, Spanish, Mandarin, German etc that doesn't make you a slave, in fact it helps one to communicate better since we are living in a global village. Kiswahili cha Tz pia kimejaa athari za lugha za Mama. For me I take Tz Swa n Ke Swa, the same as British English and American English. Eg in Britain you say Car boot and in the US it is Car trunk.... Boot in the US has a totally different meaning which can sound vulgar. Kenyans know Kiswahili coz it's taught in schools and hence our official languages are two, English and Kiswahili.

Africas French speaking countries are so fluent in French but Africas English speaking countries struggle with english. Not everybody can speak english but in franco phone countries even illiterate speak good french. Seems English is a hard language to master.

It is because the French applied a system of colonialism known as assimilation which meant that if you speak, dress and be like them you would be equal to them. This motivated a lot of the general public to speak francaise and they passed it on to their other incoming generation as a predominant language. same with Portuguese speaking countries. The English did not use this method of colonization.
