Foreign countries actually come to Kenya for benchmarking, to learn more about Mpesa, basically Kenya is going cashless. We pay everything through Mpesa, from the smallest vendors to the largest of vendors, from street food to basic supermarket shopping. It's available even to the cheapest of phones for those who can't operate touch screen phones. Also, the Kenyan government banned the use of plastic bags. We don't use plastic bags to just take care of the environment, we use some reusable bags.

Ironically, Kenya is one of the largest exporters of pepper, including hot chilli, in the world. We grow lots of pepper but do not eat as much. Kenyans know, grow, and eat yams, cassava, millet, bananas, etc, as a source of carbs but not on a large scale like Nigerians. Most staple foods in kenya are derived from maize, rice, and wheat. About temperature, Nairobi is in Kenya highland at an altitude 5500 ft above sea level, hence its cold. Some places are really cold and may even snow, like Nyahururu environs, Timboroa .. but some lower altitude places are warmer, like Kisumu and Mombasa. It is this variation of weather that creates diverse ecological zones, terrains, and wildlife that produce one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Kenyan here watching from UK ❤🇰🇪

Last one is cap 🧢,we do have yam but unlike Nigeria it's not the staple food, and it's really common in different cultures and regions in kenya, like the central oart and coastal part, yams are widely used, of course not that much in Nairobi because it's diverse and has many types of people from the world, but be sure to expect yams in Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and the highland regions (country side)so ...... Yes we do know and eat yums/cassava or whatever you want to call it❤️🇰🇪

We have both Yam and Cassava.. Actually those are our traditional food.. Our parents grew up eating them almost on a daily basis.. The problem is that the production of the said items have gone down .. As for hot chilli, we are actually amongst the largest exporters in Africa, pilipili is everywhere (from restaurants, markets etc) only that majority we don't take it so if you are in a hotel,, youll have to request the waiter for it (you'll get it for free)

Cassava and Yams and many offer Legumes formed the Stable Foods of Old East Africa....but its tedious in Modern Food Preparation.. If you are fond in traditional Foods of Old found in the Rural settings you definitely will encounter Cassava and Yams... If you don't believe me....ask that Nigerian to visit the nearest outdoor Vegetable Market for Evaluation even in Nairobi.

Infact the Black is not monolith. Especially in Africa we can be so diverse. And different doesnt mean bad it means. Infact for AAs who want ti relocate please learn the different communities and find yiur belonging based on your values and temperament etc. I see all of them landing in Ghana and assuming they will assimilate because it is the motherland. Thank you. Finally someone said it. That is what I was about to say. Pepper you can grow in your small backyard if you wanted to. Literary can be grown anywhere but we don't use it alot. And when we do we prefer to cut them and put them separately in a meal because not everyone eats pepper. Mostly prepared raw as a salad or cooked in meals but rarely. And yes cassava and yams when I was growing up my mom used to cook them because she and my dad loved them but not me. I hate yams or cassava. They just don't taste good to me. lol. So , yes we grow them but like you said I agree maybe in the coastal areas they eat them more. Maybe that guy should visit mombasa to experience the yams and cassava. :)

I think its because you were in Nairobi, if you want cassava you have to go to either African restaurants or go to my region in western Kenya and you will find it.
