As a Brit who lives part the year in Kenya we could learn a lot from the Kenyan wananchi. Youths are far more respectful to elders, you very rarely see anti social behaviour, people smile and greet each other, you do not see aggressive people everywhere.

I think that possibly the King couldn't use the word 'sorry' in his speech because that would make it political, but the 'highly regrettable' is his own personal apology, and that means more than government approved platitudes - which he obviously wasn't given permission to give.

His grandmother was pronounced queen in the early 50s while she was in Kenya on a visit en route to other colonies. Somehow, Kenya has stuck as a place that they all visit and spend significant time in. I just learned yesterday that King Charles spent at least weeks and probably much longer in Kenya some 45 years ago. I also learned recently that the Brits had proposed Kenya as a potential place for setting up the Israeli state. So they love the place, apparently
