At 10, as a std 4 kid, I was picking coffee at New Coffee in Makuyu and Chania Coffee which I think is the current Ngoigwa Estate near Thika. The salary was ksh 3/= per debe. When lucky, my mum, sister and I combined could take home ksh 15/=. Here now having been educated and residing in US with no prior connections, what can I say except to give thanks to God. I will be posting my story, how to legally immigrate and how to make it in US on my channel.

Anthony we share the same story. I lost my mum to breast cancer after struggling for us too much. We were too poor to a point of no return. However, we pulled through struggles and I made sure mum got the best care before she passed. I had closure when mum passed since we talked a lot during her palliative care. I still cry and wish she was here but I also have to live my life. Its all right to cry and mourn but you also need closure. Do not let your past define you but use it to touch other peoples life.

Something else I would add, hapa if your host sleeps 24hrs pia wewe you will do the same, kama host ni mlevi, utakua mlevi kama yeye , if your host is hardworking you will be lucky and follow them steps. Otherwise huku hakuna time ya ku waste. And also what I have realized. The people who has been here for 20 to 30yrs they don't know if they been here that long.... to them or to me it looks like we came yesterday so by the time you know it. 40yrs ndio hiyo with Nothing to show home. Hiyo kweli kabisa. When I arrived in Alabama back in 2010, I found Kenyans who tried to show me that the system is biased against immigrants as well black people. I will never forget the day after working for 7 months when I said enough was enough and resigned from my convenient store job and drove from Center Point, AL to Houghton, MI, about 1100 miles ( 1760 km) a two days journey and joined graduate school. A year later, employers were hunting for me like a gazelle. Today, when I reflect back, I just thank God.

This is the most touching story i have ever heard this december 2020.Mums are the best, i would never dream of exchanging mine! God will continue blessing you Mr Irungu and your beloved mum is always watching you, smiling from above! I had 6 siblings, a hard working mum and a father who was rearly at home because wherever i saw him he was drunk, demanding to eat meat and stressing my mum. We used to eat one meal per day with my mum's effort, when there was nothing to eat she would go around borrowing food in exchange of labouring and working in farms the whole day even if ithe weather was 40 degrees! If she gets some little money, she would buy for us maize and beans to just boil for us and a piece of meat -100g for my father for if he comes and there was no meat, he would start quarreling my mum even chase her away threatening to beat her! i remember my mum chewing the maize till soft and feeding us from her mouth because we had no strong teeth to chew the maize. it was very tough and is a long story but now we are grown ups, my father passed away and we had respected him, we took care of him after we grew up because even if he treated mum and us very badly, at the end of the day he was still our father! My mum is a small woman, 1.52M but the strongest mum of all times! By the way, i have a channel, just click and subscribe to get to know my story.Thankyou guys.
