This Kepler Track capture is my first multi-day hiking video since I started this channel and in multiple ways geared-up. And boy, did I make mistakes... (some listed below).
Nevertheless, this 3-day 60km hike was a great experience and I hope you like the video.
The rainy and windy weather actually made it more interesting for me than if it had all been sunny & warm, and luckily my mistakes weren't in the water resistant clothing domain 🤓
A few mistakes / lessons learnt:
Camera/editing-related:
1. Accidentally put my Fujifilm XT20 on 2K, not 4K, so even though my GoPro recorded 4K clips, the uploaded YT video ended up being 2K... 🤦♂️
2. Need to practice the few (limited) video AF-C/AF-S settings in my XT20 as some bird clips suffer nervous AF and/or out of focus. Alternatively try to use manual focus even when the object is moving.
3. having my camera + long lens fixed to the shoulder straps caused too much load on my shoulders, which at the end of each day were quite sore. About to move my camera + long lens to the hip belt (using Peak Design clips etc) and will try it out on next hike
4. Missed to use object tracking for speech bubbles
Packing:
5. Still a few items I shouldn't have packed coz never used them - a frying pan, some clothing, etc - so my pack list will be revised before next hike
Apart from the stupid 2K vs 4K mistake, overall I'm actually quite happy with my hike itself, though, as this was only the 2nd multi-day hike with full packing (except tent, this time) that I've done for quite some time.
The learning curve always continues.. (but I should tattoo "4K" in my forehead 🤪)
Cheers!
