Pulingari goes well with venpongal. We add a bit of channa dhall instead of rice. We also grind the roasted ingredients with fresh coconut into a thick paste. Not powder. My family also hails from Kerala

Tuvaramparuppu, molagavattal , arisi & a little methi. Dry roast and add the powder to the thaan n pulicooked. Boil n season with uraddal n kadugu it is called podi thuval pulingari

Thanks for bringing this kerala recipe. Yesterday i cooked the same with venpoosani and yellow pumpkin.pappadam is best side dish. We are now in Chennai. My inlaws are keralites based near Alleppey. They make this pulungari or thenga aracha kulambu almost four days a week. It will be slightly thicker. Since they were joint families they grind one or two big coconut with roasted methiseeds and redchillies and prepared pulungari.Malabar cucumbar seppankilangu also go well with this. With the aroma of vendhayam and cocunut it is defenitely heaven.no perungayam used.

Hi Rakesh, my wife makes a special gutti dondekai (ivy gourd), a version of the gutti vankai. It's a recipe well received amongst guests and is also a no onion, no garlic recipe. You might want to show it on your show ! thanks

Orifinal pulingari is Puthucode Navratri pulingari where u add cooked tur dal. . Thn only you will get a thick consistency,. Also we add yam to it

This is called iru puli kozhambu..we used to fry methi seeds and dry chillies in coconut oil, adding coconut and arisi without frying.

Puliankari should not be watery like this. We add jaggery to give slight sweat taste and grind fresh coconut gram dal for thick paste. What is made is pulicharu.
