I interpreted the scene as Kevin having launched the nukes
@LeetleToady72 жыл бұрын
@@helmutstein1178 why?
@helmutstein11782 жыл бұрын
@@LeetleToady7 many reasons: The nukes were launched from pre build bases on Kerbin. Sure Martin could have been the one who build them, but time wise there are issues; presumably the invasion takes place within one day (since we don't see any night fighting during the montage) so building a vast network like the one in the video, in that short of a time frame, during an active invasion doesn't make sense to me. Kevin having build them pre-invasion seems much more reasonable. Also look how the rockets operate: They get launched from the ground into space before releasing the nukes. Martin is already attacking from space, so why would he transport a bunch of nukes onto Kerbin (during his invasion) only to launch them back into space again instead of just dropping them from one of his ships? Lastly, like you said: Martin didn't want to destroy Kerbin. We don't exactly know Kevin's mindset, but he was already on the run when Martin reached his groundbase, so Kevin going full scorched earth mode before leaving would make sense from a villainous point of view
@LeetleToady72 жыл бұрын
@@helmutstein1178 He set them up before the invasion, because how in why in the everloving duck would he set them up during it, probably far away from the space center, and seeing as he went from having one tank to a whole fucking army in a fairly short time frame, and if Kevin is oblivious enough to let an army orbit above kerbin than he sure as hell wouldn’t notice (most likely camouflaged, and presumably underground) missile silos. So the only person who logically would launch them is martin.

@@crezzyt With how often people call stuff like Carbines, Tactical Rifles, etc. machine guns, you generally get desensitised to it.
@hedgeearthridge68072 жыл бұрын
@@crezzyt Well acktually, the M4A1 is an Assault Rifle. That name comes from the German word Sturmgewehr. The first one was the MP-44, or Stg-44. The prototype rifles before it was given that propaganda name "Sturmgewehr" was actually referred to as the "Maschinenkarabiner", or "Machine Carbine" because of it's full-auto capability. Historically all full-auto capable firearms have been called machine guns. Over recent years we have started to refer only to General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG) like the FN MAG (or M240) or PKM as machine guns, in addition to Heavy Machine Guns (HMG) like the M2, KORD, NSV, etc. This is not an important distinction however. So yes, the M4 is a machine gun, depending on the context you are talking about. In U.S federal law, all full-auto firearms are designated as machine guns, for example. See I told you I was a nerd ;D
@scrumbles3692 жыл бұрын
@@hedgeearthridge6807 acktually the M4 is a carbine, the M16 is the rifle version of the Armalite system adopted by the US military. Also the use of "Maschinen" for automatic weapons was a purely German thing. Machine gun was never a blanket term for automatic weapons. It's a term only used for LMGs, HMGs, and GPMGs. In almost every country outside of Germany "machine gun" was never a blanket term for automatic weapons. The Fedorov Avtomat and Browning Automatic Rifle can each be argued to be the first "assault rifles" and neither of them were referred to as machine guns (even though the US Army modified the BAR to fill the role). So no, the M4 is an automatic carbine even though US law blankets all automatic weapons as machine guns.
@maxibillion28852 жыл бұрын
Railguns do actually have a limit, because the projectile must stay in contact with the rails and therefore creates friction. It's coilguns that don't have a limit, because the projectile is suspended in the barrel and doesn't touch anything.

Fun fact. Thermonuclear weapons have no upper explosive limit, so long as you can keep adding stages. The Tsar Bomba was a 3 stage design.
