@@ДмитроПрищепа-д3я Careless is one way of putting it, I think it's just a case of not having quite the talent to make the right decision, a lot of modders, even more code-oriented ones don't have any actual programming experience, they've just learned by making and/or modifying mods (source: i'm one of these idiots), you're often in the mindset of 'oh hey, this code actually works, awesome', and that if it works, it's probably working the best way you can, granted, for all I know, the code is running as optimally as possible without changing a whole bunch of base game code and creating lots of incompatibilities, but I don't mod the game, I don't know the code, I'm making observations as an outsider. If I were to guess though, I'd assume the belt balancers check every single frame (or for Factorio, UPS, which is related but is a distinct value, when everything is running well this is 60 times a second max) for if something travelling on a conveyor belt is within sexual harrassment range, but when you do this, you pretty much have to check everything, most games try and divide up checks by things like object proximity so individual bits of the code only have to check a small amount of things, with conveyor belts this is actually very simple, you can just get an item to move to a certain, pre-calculated position, just go "okay bud, go here however much time it's supposed to get there", and once it reaces it's position, repeat the process but calculating for the belt after the last. Ideally, that bit I just mentioned about when the belt goes 'ang on a minute, there isn't a belt after this! game code, when the player places a belt next to me, check if i can chuck shit onto it, yeah?', and have the mod instead change the code to check if the object in front of the conveyor belt is actually a balancer, if so, give it a poke. There's also the problem of where it goes next, but I have written WAY too long of a reply which is already simplified and may not even be accurate to how Factorio's actual code works, I'm just writing this all for anyone who can actually take anything away from it.

Actually, fun fact for when you continue: Biters will spawn in areas that lack machinery, so if you have any big gaps in your space, biters are likely to spawn there. Would keep this in mind when expanding, you'll wanna do it incrementally as you grow, as doing big jumps only adds risk. Also, oil wells never dry out, they stop after a certain point and just end up being a constant trickle source.
