if you only want to escape Kernin orbit then it saves a small amount of fuel. If you want to transfer to almost any other planet then you might be wasting fuel because when you're low down in Kerbin's gravity well you get more energy from the same amount of fuel due to the Oberth effect, so, it is frequently more efficient to do your transfer burn without using the Mun.

Click on your Space hanger; load the Orbiter. Then click Launch. To get into oribit simply do as follows: Launch, at 2000 Meters angle 'slightly', at 6000 Meters angle a bit more, and at 15 tilt it even more over (30* at most), Then 19-21km tilt it at 45* angle. Once you reach 36km make sure that the yellow point (this represents the spacecraft's carried momentum) is in line or just above the point where the blue and orange meet. This should get you into Orbit at least.

I lost my kerbal when i tried to reach the outer planets. He is now on a LONG elliptical orbit extending outside of the solar system, and a 70 year orbit with the sun. It is also 45 degrees off from the orbital plane of the planets. He also has no fuel at all. Yeah... poor guy is lost forever. I got low on fuel and tried to salvage it, so I tried a slingshot maneuver to get home, and I MIGHT have walked away from the pc and forgot to return... and caused that to happen.

***** How to build a Mun rocket: Start small, use a lander can, an FL400 fuel tank, an LV909, some solar panels/batteries, and some micro or medium landing legs. Add a decoupler, an FL-800, and a T-45. Add another decouper, an orange tank, and a mainsail. Unless your doing something morbidly wrong, that'll getcha to the Mun.

Interesting thing, not only did they put their poo in bags but they kept them because in the event of a Radiation storm Astronauts could literally cover themselves in the bags of poo (Thankfully keeping the poo in the bag) because poo actually absorbs radiation and it would provide some level of protection from radiation. Now it's not much, it's basically like saying "Would you rather get shot with a Rifle or a Pistol". You're hurting either way but 1 is more survivable.

@ferret13378 жыл бұрын
well here is a hint. it has a moon (Charon) for the record yes absolutely it has gravity as do all objects. gravity is measured by mass = pi / radius cubed. the greater the mass the greater the gravity. but you being connected to the interwebs ought to see for yourself. it's all there with accreditation to boot. and well the truth is all Trans Kuiper Belt objects are called now plutoids so in a way pluto has become greater than previously. I could indeed throw the book at you including citations but you need not go further than wikipedia. nullius in verba (see for yourself "or take no one's word for it" as per old latin used by the royal society)

I just tried going to that planet for the first time. Hadn't touched the game in months, and thought "Screw, lets just build a big ass rocket, and get out there". My planning was piss poor at best. Got out near Duna and realized I screwed everything up, and didn't have fuel to get out where i wanted to be. So I went to Duna for the first time instead. In the end, Jeb is stranded on Duna with no ship to get back home. On my day off I will build a proper ship to get to Duna, pick up Jeb, get out to Eeloo, land, plant flag, and return everyone to Kerbin.

I got this program in beta when it was basically a ballistics simulation and Kerbal killing machine :-) No Mun, no planets, no planes. It was such a great investment to see this game grow so much. I feel like it's training future astronauts!

A true unicum in the universe of kerbal space program, scott was able to endure six years of voyage without ever failing. All hail the mighty Master of KSP!

Scott, you're not pretentious as that other guy says. You are a very intelligent person.

I know exactly how you feel. I felt so proud too after managing a very close encounter with Duna (no orbit), after which I realized that I was trying to get there with a lander that I haven't managed to land safely anywhere yet.

I'm just getting into Kerbal, and love your videos. Love how this one went from being an interplanetary mission, to talking about massaging poo...

i found a sure fire way to rendezvous is that you park your ship close to your target. like you ship is at 95km while your station is at 100km and the closest approach will probably change so slow in each orbital period that sooner or later you'll get an approach with less than 10km separation and starting from there you burn retrograde relative to the target to kill the relative velocity and then burn towards your target and sooner or later the two will meet.

Watching this in 2017 is pretty hilarious. Eeloo! New planet! KSP has come a long way.

Agreed, and if you are using so many that they overheat and explode before burning out, just slap some fins on the outside; they seem to act as a heatsink.
