I’m amazed to see this aircraft still operational, I’d kill to come down and see it. My great-grandfather Gene owned this specific aircraft in the 70s up until he sold it. From what I know of him he was a good man, I only met him once before he died in 2008 from cancer.

Love the P-51 ...... Great Video ! My Dad worked full time in our Unit the 167FG WVANG that flew P-51D Mustangs and in 1950 was activated for the Korean War. He use to take my Brother and I to Kanawha Airport, Charleston, WVa. when we were kids to watch them takeoff and land in 1954 to 1957 time frame. Our Unit was the very last USAF Unit to fly P-51's, retiring them in 1957. The P-51D at the AF Museum came from our Unit. Thank You !

This identical very same P51 did a VERY LOW, VERY HIGH SPEED OVERPASS, down the north-western runway during the 1965 Auckland Aeroclub Air Show Open Day held at Ardmore (ex-USAF) Airbase NZ, liveried all over in that time in pure 'Off-White', and with smallish red and blue 'Mobil' markings . . It was piloted by one of two NZ private citizen farmer guys who had owned the aircraft since it had been sold to them as 'surplus equipment' from the RNZAF, which had stopped using them operationally around 1958. These guys owned the aircraft until about 1974, and they used to demonstrate it at local NZ air shows, doing very low full throttle diving overpasses, with white condensation trails streaming off each wingtip . . The sight and sound of which you never forget. I was only a young teenage kid when I saw that . . now in my early seventies

There is just something about those D"s which just gets the blood flowing. It just seems like with its history as a warplane and its aesthetics in design, indeed even its sound, there just isn't another warbird like the P-51D. The only thing that comes close to it is the late model Spits. It will be a sad day when the last P-51D is put to pasture. (And of course, I'll go to my grave never having such an opportunity to fly in such a bird.) Kermet: Keep up the great work.

WORST day of my life in the 00s . I brought my family to FOF Museum from Europe. We went round the Museum and the kids loved it . We saw AT6 flights and Helicopter flights available from competitors, also a $$$$ P51D flight opportunity . We were there in FL for Disney /Universal etc but they lost interest !!! My plan was to leave them there in Kissimmee ,early in Disney with my wife, then go and get the expensive flight in a P51D , then meet them later ! In the end myself and 3 sons went up in AT-6s , My wife and other fourth son in a Robinson Helicopter: all MY P51D funds gone. I shared the FLIGHT experience across myself, wife and 4 sons. I never flew in a Spitfire or P51D, my dreams. Heck the kids/wife don't remember it now and just another Florida ride ... I missed my chance. I'm OK with that, a little bitter.

I hope you put -51 veterans in at a cheaper rate . My dad would in one way would have loved to have a ride. He flew a couple of light aircraft & was disappointed he just did not have the level of skills he had. Things like flying the aircraft at the very edge of stalling. The RAF put their best pilots into the Mustangs, Spits and Mustangs when there were lots of pilots wee available . He was never flashy but I have been told he was very precise.
