🎉Can you make a video that is brutally honest about the B58 RELIABILITY weaknesses. No sugar coating but make a list top to bottom and talk to the viewers as if to convince them not to get it. But in the same video go over the steps you would take to fix those issues (bulletproof your engine) to prevent those issues from happening like the PCV delete example you gave. Please let it be focused on your best RELIABILITY build (preventative cheat sheet) for DAILY driven cars with everything stock except maybe with a high-flow catted down pipe and conservative tune on regular 91-93 octane gas (no E85). Goal is to make the engine last up to 300k miles if possible, what would you do?
@zenstorm311 Жыл бұрын
The reason is, I am coming off of a Lexus with 283k miles mixed street and highway which has never given me issues except regular maintenance. It’s hard to believe just idling would cause a bmw to mess up but if Toyota is okay with the B58 then there must have been a lot of improvement worth making the switch.

Shortly after getting a built engine and ramping up boost, car started smoking on restarts. Took off the breather cap, diaphragm was split. Found lots of oil in the intake. Did the pcv delete and never looked back. No more smoke, no more oil anywhere, catch can stays mostly dry. Pcv delete is definitely a great upgrade for this platform. But I need to find a way to fit that engine cover back without cutting. Maybe lower profile fittings

Your videos are really helpful, only issue I’m getting is now when I replace the rubber diaphragm like you did in another video with the rubber mallet on top. I don’t get any suction from the valve cover, the rubber diaphragm does not get sucked in. Any idea what could be the issue for there being no vaccum ?

What’s considered “gen 1”? Long story short was in an accident wasn’t at fault in my civic.. had like 4 days to research what car to get and I ended up copping a 2020 M340i XDrive with the dravit gray/blue caliper/black split 5 spoke combo. Not sure if there’s a year split oss. I’m just super fresh to the bimmer gang and I want to at least have full bolt ons with a dyno tune. Reliability is my main concern and main thing I see people upgrade is trans and downpipe lol. I’m assuming this PCV reroute/delete applies to my car, is there anything else that people tend to swap out?

Kern, thanks for the video. Quick question. For those of us who are running catless and smoke a little more than others normally would with an OEM cat, how would you be able to tell if you're having a PCV issue?
@kern4172 жыл бұрын
The smoke will be significant. Like a thick cloud. Normal smoke evaporates pretty much after it exits the exhaust

Hey, im just wondering. what happens with the crankhose you talked about that goes back into the turbo, that fitting is there a clip for that because in the second part of the video you showed the hose with red filter on it. so in the turbo inlet there was the original crankhose fitting, do you also have a plug for that?
@kern4172 жыл бұрын
the 2nd part of the video is a different car. The ross racing pcv delete kit comes with a rubber cap that goes on the hose. you don't remove the hose completely.
