I just got one this week without any research and it turn out to good based on your video, l haven’t used it yet it’s for part of my prepping.mine came with 3 wicks which is said should last 6 to 9 years and the top part or chimney it’s called is adjustable, you can lower it and can actually use it to cook not just boil water

I used several of these 9,000 btu camping keroseneheaters this past winter in my house. Several times I even used two of them at the same time, in the same area to increase the heat output. They are very basic and simply to use. If one understand and knows how to use a kerosene lamp or lantern, one will definitely understand how to use these heaters. There aren't any fancy ignitor switch and nor is there an emergency shut off switch but just a old school kerosene heater made for modern times. These modern kerosene heaters with all the modern electronics can also be used and operated the same way as these camping heaters by simply bypassing the electronics and operating them the old school way and they probably will last longer.

Did you use C1 paraffin? If you use 28sec kerosene, you will get headaches. Far more sulphur and metals. ROLF (Reduced Odour) Tozane or C1 paraffin is what you want.

Northern Tool offers repair services for Kerosene heaters. Their service charge however is very expensive and cost more than what the Heater is worth. I'm thinking of opening up a repair service myself and my fees will be reasonable and affordable for repairs.

@@Beta250trials I have since learned you can buy smokeless fuel, here in the UK we call it paraffin, not sure what it is called elsewhere in the world but i did buy some and there is a vast improvement, very little smoke if any. my ceiling and walls were very sooty it took me hours to clean it up. I do love the heater now, i even used it to heat up a quick meal.

Im lookng for a kerosene heater that wont run me out of a ten by twelve tent or small room, and its not an easy find. As I recall, the temperature on such heaters are either not at all or very minimally adjustable...is that a fact? Also, say this unit is 9,000 BTUs, and it is adjustable, how much adjustability do they have...even a wild guess would help. Also, regardless of all that, the most basic question will the unit as it stands bbe eay too much for the area mentioned? Yes, zi can open windows and doors, but thats hardly ideal. Thanks much for any input.

You're better off opening a window to avoid consuming all the air if you're too hot. I'd guess a 9,000 btu heater will be more than adequate with some ventilation and too hot without ventilation. Burn the heater at optimum flame and adjust ventilation accordingly. Gas station kero is K2, kinda dirty in close quarters. I'd go with K1 crystal clear kero in a tent. There's also a 10 wick stove called the "Fire Wheel" that might fit your needs, this one is designed to place a cooking pot on type and the wick setup is pretty forgiving. Surely, the btu output is lower and the stove has good reviews. 10 wicks might light concentrically, more readily than the 6 or 8 wick versions out there. The problem with all-cotton wicks is they burn down so I'm not sure this stove combustion temp is high enough to fully combust the vapors. I don't have 1st hand experience with any of the kero burners other than these center-draft types.

Having looked at a few different types of paraffin heatees it seems quite decent - 5.2L capacity, and per hour is using 0.25L - So about 16 to 17 hours - But if on low having mastered the wick height, it might be more. If using inside after buying from new, (And from what people have said), it's best to leaving it outside for the first burn so that all the factory solvents and paints are burned off - Then there's no smell. But so far the KERO 241 2.2Kw seems to be better with a 3.8 Litre Fuel Tank • Average 16hr burning time - Another site lists it at 3.2 Litre capacity, so not to sure which is correct. The wicks are probably ok for 2 or 3 winters - They need crunchy carbon removed from them about once a month to keep the flame working optimally.

@@thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 Thanks for the detailed info. I agree and had considered the fact they need ventilation, and just using the window/door as a thermostat could work well. The heater you mentioned sounds interesting, and will look into it. I have a few of these very cheap china, 8 wick cookers, that burn surprisingly clean and put out a lot of heat. They seem a bit dangerous but aren't they all. Placed in a large pot might take care of that.

Only if you can get free wood and are not in a smoke free area. In the UK where the OP is from, Kerosene is roughly a third of the price of wood per KWH. That's also not taking efficiency into the equation, which is 100% for kerosene and 80% for wood burners. The is also the benefit of not having to install a chimney, and having to deal with the mess such as ash and flue cleaning.
