I shouldn't do this to myself, watching these vids. Usually, I am joyful with the music and sights of BC in action after all this time. But sometimes, the tragedy of Stuart's end makes me sad. Right now, I feel like crying a little bit. "Wonderland" was an epiphany for me when I was 13, and it still gives me goosebumps. Nothing like it. Sigh, what the world has lost. Be at peace, Stuart. xoxox

Such a talent and what a gorgeous solo, I can close my eyes and suddenly I am in Scotland! It makes me sad that Stuart was so loved by so many, but perhaps felt so alone. RIP, I hope you have found your Wonderland x

Absolute magic. However, the best part is during the intro when Stuart delays singing the first verse, for what? To go over and turn DOWN the volume on his amp. What a pro he knew he was drowning out the others. Usually langers in bands can't stop turning their amps up. He had such a feeling for music deep down in his soul.

Was in the CC for years, sadly never went to a convention, had some health issues from my late teens onwards, & was in a low paid job, had to decide between my fav football team & BC, saw them live though 10 times, & met Stuart & the band in my home town. Was a BC fanatic mid 80s - 90s.❤

For me this is high class abnormal outstandingl guitar solo. The best live version of Wonderland for sure and definitely on the same level with all those claptons, gilmours, hendrixs and co. That Stuart and BC didn't have as much commercial success as those guys does not mean his guitar play is lacking skill in comparison. Stuart did achieve the same thing as the small group of world class guitarists. His sound is unique and I would recognize it in an instant.

Seeing Stuart so alive and vibrant and doing what le loves really brings back great memories from when I saw Big Country at the Palladium in Hollywood. They are all excellent musicians to be sure, but I love the passion and gusto! I will always be inspired by this song. Check the lyrics to see the real genius... "But when the thunder rolls It comes and covers up my soul And you will take my hand And be with me in wonderland" I will see you in this life or the next. Stay alive!

That guitar solo brought tears to my eyes, so beautiful, mystical, deep. Like it brings you right to the door of heaven itself and gives you a glimpse of the vista

I agree Lisa, that the solo in this live version is way out of this world. I remember you once mentioned of it on the old Big Country forum, so checked it out. If guitars had wings, then reckon they'd all fly to Stuart in the hope that he would play his magic melodies on them, even though they'd need to fly all the way to heaven.

Ma Pat, wee Stu is so ADORABLE in this vidso!!! I love his voice (when he speaks, as well...YUM!) He's a brilliant guitar player, too. His beautiful face (that smile, those dimples!) is so animated, it breaks the heart... "I am an honest man; I need the love of you..." Quick! Bring on the smelling salts~, Thank you for reintroducing me to this amazing band and especially to our sweet Stuart! Gaol a pog! xxxx Debra :D

My claim to fame is being in the crowd for this song during the filming of "Without the aid of a safety net" ... I must have been about 19 or so ... what was I wearing lol. Still the only band of musicians that can make me smile and cry during the same song. Thanks lads, you will always be the soundtrack to my life. x

Love Stuart's guitar solo... but who's playing the drums??? Not Mark. Was that what Stuart meant by doing some market research? Same with using keyboards?
@lisaknell18093 жыл бұрын
Chris Bell of Gene Loves Jezebel/Spear of Destiny is on the drums here. Stuart follows with “ye know how cynical we are”.... Mark had left the band for a brief time during this period, maybe it was an offhand comment about that? Colin Berwick is on keyboards.

Cheers.

All groups shed a little truth in their lyrics , none more than Stuarts , I might get shot down for saying this but all speak as if the big man's still with us . . . watching . . . . waiting . . . . listening . .
