In addition to being fans and interested about the work/journey that other actors do/go through. Keep them coming Variety! Would be great if they could get Leonardo DiCaprio to do one of these with someone he has never worked with or just someone who is the complete opposite. The best part of these is, these actors might not be working together or never have so are quite awkward at start and you can see by the mid of the episode/video, they are just casually chatting and are totally comfortable. Makes them feel so normal :)

As she says, there is that immediate empathy and wanting everyone to feel welcome that might not be noticed when every decision maker is white. But she was cast in the pilot and then recast with Tracie Thoms for series, but Wikipedia says it was because she couldn't commit to future episodes (along with Adam Scott, who played the main character's brother, who was replaced by Lee Pace).

Jacqueline Lane Empire came out afterwards. Scandal is in season 6 (or will be when it comes back) and Empire is only in season 3. She could be speaking any number of shows that has a black female role, not necessarily the lead role. We also can't know the timeline/ frame of which those auditions happened. She could have very well auditioned for Girlfriends or Without a Trace.
