Exactly. Forgiveness is honestly a shortcut to navigating life. I find myself almost instantaneously initiating the process of forgiving someone any time I feel wronged by them. We don’t get to pick our family, but we need them, acceptance and boundary setting are key to existing together harmoniously throughout this shared life experience. My $.02

When I hear celebrities say they been depressed, had a eating disorder or been suicidal it’s an eye opener because they are people just like us. I used to say celebrities don’t have anything to worry about because they rich they wouldn’t understand what it means to struggle or feel regular. But that’s not the case … they still go through things internally. It’s refreshing knowing how successful and poised Kerry Washington is but still had internal issues just like me. I see now that no matter how I feel I’m getting through these hardships and to stay strong and that one phase in your life does not determine the rest of your life. Thank you Mrs. Kerry for showing us your vulnerability. I’m going to buy this book right now !

Her parents were forced to reveal what they did because Kerry was going to appear on Henry Gates's Finding Your Roots, and they chose to go contact Henry, *before* talking to their daughter, and it was Henry who told them to tell Kerry... This was an amazing interview!! So many amazing points that I think will help so many people!! Her statement about how learning the truth deepened her relationship with her father and let her express true unconditional love to him.

The only question I wished they asked is what the hell happened to season 2 of “little fires everywhere” that was good as show. But great interview !
