Good stuff Kerry, not a sight you get to see too often. Great to see good practice around leaving the larger males. Can be hard to resist at times but the smaller generally taste better anyway and the big boys keep the population healthy.

Wow memories. Used to spend my spare time in the water summer or winter any time the water was right to free dive, to explore or kai for someone's tangi. Haven't been diving since moving away from the East Coast. Thanks for sharing, your rocks pretty much looked like where I Leart to dive. late 70' early 90's.

Yes, from time to time you do see some good sharks, most of the time they are just Bronze Whalers, and they are more interested in the fish that you have than you, we only really have to worry about Great Whites and they are not common at all...Cheers!!!

Good to hear them called by their proper name and not lobster. Crays in numbers like this are often seen in Torres Strait of Australia as well. Sometimes they often cover an entire bommie.

Yes I do but the vast majority of sharks in NZ will only want to eat the fish you have and do not see you as food, the only ones that I worry about are great whites and I have only seen one in all the years I have been diving! Cheers!!!
