I LOVE the copper. I think the knife so handsome. I couldn't wait to get mine. Waited like......8 months. Turns out, I hated it. I sent it back. Detent was too strong and crunchy. Then the detent ball fell out onto my kitchen floor, leaving me a nice, floppy knife. The tip of the blade bit my palm every time I opened or closed it. I gave up. I enjoy working on knives. I don't need "Good". But I just hated that thing.

My Copper Natrix has a small amount of detent rock. I found I had to loosen the pocket clip and the lock screws, hold the lock tightly toward the frame and tighten the screws. Otherwise, the blade tip would expose slightly with the detent lock. I also had to fix that sloppy factory edge. Also, those lock and pocket clip screws make it very tough to carry the knife in my jeans 5th pocket. Still, I really like that little knife. I also bought the Kershaw Bareknuckle, and that is the good Natrix by another name. It has string detent, which is good, but pressure on the lock makes it very very strong detent, which is not good, but is avoidable. The screws on the lock are flush with the scale and it goes in and out of my jeans without any problem.

One thing I noticed was when you put the screws back in without the pocket clip the threaded side sticks out in the blade track. So when you go to close the knife the screws you put back in without the pocket clip the blade hits them. So if you do remove the pocket clip you have to make a spacer to keep those screws from extending that far into the frame. Or you have to grind some off of the screws. I just made a stainless spacer for it. Also the knife worked just fine without the use screws btw. Sometimes Kershaw just doesn't check out all aspects of their designs. And I am glad they made it in a unassisted. I hate the Speedsafe feature on Kershaw and believe it is one of the reasons the assisted knives do not have a great resale value. Like everyone else I have moved well beyond assisted knives. They are just unnecessary.

Nice long video full of info. I brought The Natrix xl from LTK and at first I wasn't too happy about the feel of the it, felt super cheap. There's annoyingly sharp corners and edges that should have been rounded off. The detent is super strong which causes it to have great flipping action. For the the knife doesn't have problems I can't fix it has problems that shouldn't be there in the first place

I'm loving the Natrix. I agree with everything you said about the copper. I'm thinking they targeted the EDC community who loves to have copper flashlights, pens, knife, and whatever else in their themed Instagram posts. It's certainly not about practicality. I'm fine with cover on small knives like the Pilar or Bracket for doing shipwreck mods because they're small enough to not be pocket bricks.

If you don't like small knives and the smell of copper I suggest that you don't buy a small knife with copper scales. :) Mine sucks because it has bad detent rock. If I shake the knife while closed I can hear the detent ball rattle against the blade. Not sure if they have manufactured more than 1 batch. I ordered mine in Feb, received in Nov.

I bet the frame lock screw hole are to compensate for the soft copper. Standard frame locks work better for lefties imo.

Kershaw needs to bite the bullet and do a production 0777. I believe a lot of people would agree. The 0777 is a gem of a design. It's blade is in that sweet spot between 3.5 - 4 inch blade, it has Carbon Fiber scales with a Titanium sub-frame lock, deep carry Titanium clip, and, a nicely ergonomic handle. There is not much to dislike with this design. Sooo, why are you leaving sure money on the table, Kershaw? 😕

You have issue with copper. So why you have it? Plenty of fans of all things made of copper. Why should all knives made things materials familiar to you? I love copper, live in Finland ,old copper mining town called Outokumpu( strangehill) . Not been negative to your opinions,but in knife world,there are space for different takes.
