Kershaw Lifter - Budget Badass in Blackwash

Despite its goofy name and menacing styling, the new for 2014 Kershaw Lifter is a great budget EDC choice from Kershaw's three-knife blackwash series. The recurved tanto blade offers piercing, box-cutter and fine-point performance at the tip, while the hollow-ground recurve portion gathers material and slices efficiently. The 410 stainless steel framelock anchors the blade solidly and presents good ergonomics. It's heavy, no doubt, but at around $20 you can afford to hire a sherpa to carry it around for you.

I have carried the Kershaw Blur for years. I love it. I recently purchased this lifter knife you speak of because it came highly recommended. I’m excited to put this in rotation with the Blurs.

Great review. I have been carrying this knife for just over 3.5 years now, and have used and abused it every day without a single issue. I am retiring this knife from my edc just because I want a change, and this week I have started to carrying the automatic Kershaw Launch 1. The Lifter will remain as my backup knife, in case I am traveling somewhere that does not allow automatic knives. But for $20, you can't beat its value or quality. Highly recommend.

Had mine, has been my EDC, for as long as this video has been playing. I love the look, reminds me of a shark. I does like to be maintained more than I would prefer but that is more due to the dual blade feature and how I use it. The tanto front is easier to maintain, the recurved belly takes more time and patience. It's best quality, in my opinion, is where the two meet. I do big box/warehouse work and it's where the recurve meets the tanto point that makes this knife unique. The little point/tooth it makes where the two edges meet is awesome for cutting taped or perforated boxes. Just enough to get the job done but not to over cut. The recurve also was good at reducing cardboard in a pinch. Technically I am not allowed to use personal/unapproved knives on the job, but every time I needed a little back-up it came out. Still carry it to this day.

Just bought this knife. my only complain is the 3cr steel they used. they should have used 8cr at least. but I guess that doesn't matter that much in a small blade I only use for opening packages. but I would not take this as my only knife on my backpacking trips. I like it a lot though.

I doubt you can since its $20 but have you tried de-assisting this? I love speedsafe but am slowly gravitating away from it. Also does it have nylon washers or brass? I like the skinnier handle vs the cryo2...but i love my cryo as well. Thanks man.

Nice review! It's a cool looking knife but it reminds me of the district 9 knives and the Schrade 301 (not that that's a bad thing). You're right that it should have a cooler name though.

if you look close right at the end of the lock arm there is a little ball, grind it down or take it out and it's not hard
