What an amazing violinist! Why isn't he popular? I think he is the best violinist in his generation. He is better than many of the ones I have heard and known before. I am so emotionally affected by the sound of his violin playing which is so dauntingly beautiful.

This is a strong rendition of Bruch's most established work. The violin entry is particularly confidently delivered here, with superb tone production from a highly refined bow arm that truly commands the room. Kerson is a thrilling artist, mature far beyond his years, and his deeply analytical, reflective approach to the instrument is on beautiful display here. There is much excellence to be expected from this outstanding Canadian artist in the years to come.

20:55 for the darkest tone ever produced by a violin! "This is where the Del Gesu truly roars, on the G string, however a Stradivari pales in comparison and the G string seems to lack profundity" - W.E. Hill.

@liamneville6487
@liamneville6487 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree, because as citylida MJ mentioned below, the solid string pressure is giving the violin a pure sound, a very intimate connection between the bow and violin that is of course essential in performance. It is a very rich sound, not that fluffy /airy sound that some young violinists [emerging artists] have due to there over-the-top bow strokes, from exaggerated movement and showmanship.
@alexsaldarriaga8318
@alexsaldarriaga8318 4 жыл бұрын
I’d say he has a similar impulse-type vibrato from the Auer school and exemplified by Heifetz, Elman and Seidel. David Nadien also had this type of vibrato. It stems from the arm, but is never stiff or inflexible. He uses the meaty part of the fingers of the left hand which enhances the lush virility of his sound. But the bow is equally as important, and like the great Auer students, he uses a lot of bow and plays close to the bridge. Enough of the mechanics! Mr. Leong is a master solo violinist and artist. He deserves greater recognition. I just “discovered” him today and look forward to hearing more from him. Bravo!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
