Nina JB Honestly, I never thought I would find Kesha such an intriguing artist. Last year on New Years, I ended my friendship with an emotional abusive friend who was dealing with alcoholism. I'm not religious at all, but this song offered a sense of perspective that I can appreciate. My life will continue, I will try to be happy, and I hope he does too.

I have found a new appreciation for "Kesha" after this song came out. "Ke$ha"s music was played at college parties and raves. But "Kesha" is now a soulful, emotional, amazing singer. I never knew she had that angelic voice because I always heard her doing a type of rap or something. I was met with a big surprise when I found out that the song on the radio was her. ahhh yes, she put that high note into this song for attention. absolutely, she put a falsetto scream into a song that publically draws attention to what a demonic asshole Dr. Luke, her longtime rapist/abuser, is and how she is strong enough to overcome the literal hell he put her through, and NO, that is not the attention grabber. Nope, it's the cathartic scream that helps this song reach an even more powerful climax. Yep, what an attention-seeking move. Y'all, seriously? Get the fuck outta here. EVERYONE WHO KEEPS SAYING THAT SHE DIDNT HIT THE HIGH NOTE ITS HER SONG SHE CAN DO WHATEVER THE FRICK SHE WANTS. She also said that it took her 10ish tries to get the high note in the studio. This is a live performance she only has one try and she wants to wait until she masters it so she doesn't mess up the whole performance with on note.
@emilya.stroman3697
@emilya.stroman3697 7 жыл бұрын
Even if she does "master" it, you're never going to hit a note like that reliably all the time. Especially when she goes on tour, she'll be singing so often that her voice is going to get fatigued. You'll notice that many touring singers tune songs down or improvise lower melodies because doing it night after night takes its toll on your vocal cords. Talent can't overcome pure physiology, and a singer needs to know their voice.

This song is just evidence that if you work kindly on yourself, you don't have to hold onto the past so tightly. You can let it go. Sure it's not gone forever, but it's like a balloon, tied to your person. It follows you, you don't follow it.❤ Kesha is currently saving my life.

@@Bibblesupremacy1992 That is true, I was just saying it's a good song to help you get past troubling times. Like when I sing along to this song, I think of all the people who have hurt me or abused me, and it helps me imagine those shitty people becoming better people, and that helps me feel better. My post (I thought) was a good lil summary about the song, while not having to specifically single out her overcoming her sexual abuse.

She didn't do the whistle note because it took her 10 times just to do it in the studio version. She needs to keep practicing the note and make sure she doesn't ruin anything with her voice while doing it. I'm just happy she's not lip syncing it like other artists do!

no name that was not a falsetto lol that register is too damn high for a falsetto, if anything it's a head voice or whistle but no it literally took her forever to get the note right for the studio version.

WoWaddictChristina yeah ignore him he's just trying to make Kesha look bad. Saying she has to prove herself?! Like it's music if you don't like her song cause she doesn't do it live then move along. I rather her note damage her vocal chords and sing than her hit a note over and over and never sing the same again like Mariah(well we know her story but lol)

This song is not about hitting high notes or having the best vocals. Its about making music mean something. This song is so powerful and it shows people that she is human and goes through stuff everyone else does but you can get over, just like she did. So, so what if she didn't do a "whistle note" that doesn't even match how powerful the song is and how much she's been through! Edit:well damm 2.4k 😱

For those of you talking about her not hitting the high note- Kesha went on in an interview talking about how it took her ten times in the studio to hit that note for the album version. Try hitting that note it's really hard lol. Some people can do it sometimes and not others. All it means is her range is just on the cusp of allowing her to hit it. Nothing wrong if she doesn't want her voice to crack live, she said it did the first nine times she tried it in studio. Idk what you guys are hearing bc I think she sounds absolutely amazing. Amazing babe x

This is what I think about the people that criticize Kesha's performance because she don't hits the high note. Remember singing is not about having the most powerful voice and always hitting the high note. It's more important to express emotions in music, feeling the melody, being passionate when you perform, sending a message across your music, connecting with your crowd. This is to make a type of anthem that will support your fans and yourself. In music is important to using your pain to create art, remember that the most beautiful masterpieces in the world were born across the sadness, the pain, emotional struggles, the darkness, vulnerable feelings, the grief and your strength. 🌟💖

I've never even heard of her until someone showed me the video of this song which is shot at salvation mountain, a place I go to often, I met Leonard Knight, makes me sick they let this blasphemy take place there, Leonard is no longer with us but 27 years of devotion building that mountain, and Hollywood comes in and kicks down a few bucks to the current caretakers saying it's a good thing? makes me so sad for Leonard, and kids think she's praying to God? Ya right maybe praying to the Illuminati or like you said the beast. glad to know at least a few people can see right through this act. God bless

I remember hearing this when it was first release (this exact live version). It puts to shame the studio release. And 6 years on I go back to it because like a real good film it moves you. Not in a religious way, but with pure emotion and art in it's best form. The layered instrument introduction and the drums only when needed not only compliment Kesha's vocals (perhaps the best I've ever heard her sing) but add weight and emotion I'd not seen from her before. For thos who are struggling, had loss, or are dealing with a mental chalange, know this - Pain is hard and it's scary, but boy does it build strength and resilience like nothing else can. When you come out the other side, and you will.... thats when you truely know who you are and what you're truly capable of.

❤Kesha, thank you for this song and for who you are. I was sexually abused throughout my life. One of my abuser was a parent. I feel it deeply every time I hear your words “And we both know all the truth I could tell.” I hope some day I’ll have the courage to face this person and stop keeping their secrets. You and this song continue to inspire me and bring me hope.
