RIP Goo Hara. We will always love you. (There's also a 6th place setting at the start of the video for her too. The mics at the end just make it full circle.) Back then, the big triangle for gg was WonSoKa--Wonder Girls, SNSD, and KARA. KARA has a number of huge hits in SK, and they were actually even bigger than SNSD in Japan. iirc they were only topped by Twice in Japan (I think last year) despite having disbanded back in 2016. Mister, a b-side track, absolutely swept Korea with its sound and signature butt dance. Step is also like...my favorite party song ever. I hope you guys get a chance to listen to their past stuff at some point. :) Synth-y electropop was very much their signature back in the day. Also. Nicole's abs and the hip movements in Step were probably my gay awakening in high school. I'm completely serious. Songs to check out (though you might already know them due to popularity): Mr., Lupin, Pandora, Step.

RBW acquired DSP Media not too long ago which is who KARA was under when they were active, hence their stuff being labeled as RBW now. As far as ages, the oldest 2 members, Gyuri and Seungyeon, are 34 (1988), Nicole is 31 (1991), and the youngest two, Jiyoung and Youngji, are 28 (1994). Jiyoung is the girl in the beginning y’all were fangirling over (she also does the first rap) and Nicole is the one who was in red for that floor dance scene and who had the second rap! As some other people have mentioned there is a sixth member of KARA, Goo Hara. She passed away in November of 2019. That is why there are 6 mics at the end ❤️ I really hope you check them out! Their music is phenomenal and they are a pinnacle of 2nd gen k-pop. They did a Killing Voice video as well! Might be a nice introduction to their music for y’all 😊 Some of my favorite KARA songs are Rock U, Step, Damaged Lady, and Mamma Mia!

They’re Iconic and timeless In the first scene there’s also a 6th place seating at the table, which as someone else mentioned with the mic’s, is also representative of Goo Hara who passed away, there’s also a 7th member who was one of the originals but she’s no longer doing anything idol related, she left a year after debut in 2008. Hara was Sulli (fx) best friend, so much so that they considered eachother sisters and would find the time between schedules and everything to spend time with each other. Kara lost Hara to suicide a month after Sulli passed. They are considered kpop Juggernauts. The oldest is an 88 liner and the youngest two are 94 liners

Kara has always been legendary. They’re one of the top GG in Korea & the top Kpop GG in Japan. They’re huge in Japan. I’m so proud to see them bloom since debut. They still got it & still look gorgeous as ever. KARA never fails to us. This year is a blessed year for 2nd Gen fans. Do check out other Kara MV.

They were under DSP, the company that also houses Kard. They bought them. That's why they are under rbw now. The 6th mic is to honor their member that already left this world. Her name was Goo Hara.

I'm so happy you reacted to this! As a Kamelia and a 2nd gen fan, this was one of the best surprises k-pop had to offer this year. I'm glad you recognized and appreciated my biases, the rapline, if you will, Jiyoung (the redhead with blue contacts Han said is stunning which she very much is, she's also the maknae of the group) and Nicole (the one with the shoulder-length blonde dyed hair, petite stature and imo striking features, she's Korean-American but moved to South-Korea at age 15 to train and become an idol, hence, her Korean these days is better than her English, she's the main dancer of the group fitting to the title of this song). I loved the little elements they incorporated to commemorate Goo Hara. She'll always be a member of this group, Kara will forever be 6. If you'll react to them again in the future, I highly recommend you check out Lupin, Pandora and Damaged Lady. Especially Pandora and Damaged Lady are highly underrated but will forever be two of my personal favorites of theirs and very much iconic. Damaged Lady was for the girls and the gays. 🤭🏳‍🌈

Quick explanation here 🌟🌟🌟 Kara debuted under DSP media and that was acquired by RBW entertainment, company that houses groups like Mamamoo and Purple Kiss. In this music video, they are 5 member but Kara is 6 member group but sadly one of the member, Goo Hara passed away. That explains the 6 mic in the end. Kara is an iconic girl group from 2nd gen. They were extremely popular both in Korea and Japan with song like Step, Mamma Mia, etc.

I love how the song has enough umph to make dancing along to it fun but it's restrained enough that I don't *have* to dance to it. To your point about it feels nostalgic, I feel like this is getting in on the wave of early 2000's callbacks in recent K-pop but it legitimately feels like a song from that era rather than just using that musical vocabulary.

i never in my life thought we'd get a kara comeback!! rest in peace goo hara, the missing sixth member :( but it's so awesome to see the five together, some members never promoted together before! they were my 2nd fav girl group of all time after wonder girls. so many iconic songs, they have always had a "nostalgic" sound and i'm so glad they stuck with it while giving a modern twist

There are actually five current members of Kara, sadly Goo Hara who was the 6th member passed away in 2019 and so the 6 microphones are in memory of her. If you're looking for the most iconic Kara MV's to watch then I'd suggest Mister, Lupin, Jumping, Step, Pandora and Mamma Mia to start with. But there are many more and that's not even factoring in their iconic Japanese hits as well.

Oh right, yes, this was a reunion comeback. They formally "disbanded" in 2016, though iirc the members have always denied that and said the door is open for coming together again. After RBW acquired DSP Entertainment, they essentially gained the rights to KARA. DSP mostly acts "independently" (though many of their staff have been replaced by RBW I think) as a subsidiary, but since almost none of the members are under DSP anymore, it was probably more straightforward to put them under RBW for this. (Or RBW was the one that approached them all to extend the opportunity.)

Goddammit! I was retired from Kpop-fandom and KARA's's comeback is pulling me into their fandom AGAIN! After 10 years, This comeback was very emotional to me because the first time I fanboy-ing Kpop I didn't recognize them but slowly I love KARA, and I joined their fandom. the reason is they're consistent with their style, not many idol group are consistent with their original style somehow they have to follow the trends to stay in surface, but KARA are breaking that odds they win a lot by using their original style and even today they're not changing it but polish it to stay update with current generation and only few idol group can do that but still killing it, summoning the old-fandom and sucking youngest-fandom into their fanbase by their amazingness.

Company-wise, Kara debuted with DSP Media, who were one of the OG huge Kpop companies in first and second gen. DSP started to fall off a bit in the 2010s when their CEO suffered a stroke, and they were eventually acquired by RBW in January 2022, which is how they ended up at RBW.

They have great artists, great groups, great songs and productions, but most of what they release doesn't meet the success expected. Oneus, Purple Kiss, and the new Mamamoo comeback, they all keep having poor success. They don't do worse than other companies though it's just how kpop works nowadays.

Originally Kara was forged in about 14 yrs ago & they were hugely popular in Japan along w/ Girl's Generation 8-10 yrs ago. The current new Kara's age ranges from 28yo to 34yo.,,,,At 1:12, she is Jiyoung or Jiyeong 28-29yo, & also an actress in both in Korea & Japan ( her command of Japanese is quite good & so acts in Japan as well.). At 2:10, her name is Guri, the oldest, 34yo., who has been a leader of the Kara, & also an actress in Korea but not in Japan owing to the language barrier. At 2;15, she is a Korean American who grew up in Glendale, California ( 31yo ) & returned to her motherland to be an idol, probably after graduated from a high school in CA. Thus, her native tongue is English, & brushed up on her Korean while in Korea. Two rappers are Jiyoung & Nicole. ( They must have trained to do that, cuz they are not known to be able to rap before.),,,Enjoying & appreciating your genuine & bona fide reaction which distinctively distinguishes yourselves from the rest of the reactors for your authentic & expressive facial gestures. FYI, 3 of the members never actually performed together in the group at the same time. Jiyoung and Nicole left the group in 2015, and there was a reality show to pick the new member, which was Youngji. This would be the first comeback that all 3 of them are in the group at the same time. I'm glad that they are now under RBW, since DSP was such a crap company. One of my favorite songs that I never see mentioned, is "Damaged Lady", that was the last comeback with Nicole and Jiyoung, it is an awesome song.

they debuted in dsp and remained there until their disbandment. but I think it was that same year, rbw bought 51% of dsp, that's why they produced it. and the sixth microphone was a tribute to goo hara, in the beginning there are others too, like the table scene in the first 5 seconds, there is a plate, cutlery and a glass served for a sixth person.
