The same theme that was used by KMOL (channel 4, now WOAI) was also used by KETK and KAMR at the same time. All three stations were owned by separate companies (KMOL belonged to News Corporation just like its then-sister station KTVX was, while KETK and KAMR were owned by locally-based companies). Sinclair acquired KETK in July 1998 but was forced to sell the non-license assets of the station the following year as a result of its purchase of Guy Gannett's stations; it would sell the station off entirely in the middle of 2004. It would be 8.5 years before Sinclair bought WOAI itself as part of the liquidation of Newport Television, which itself was completed in the summer of 2013.
