My Dad was stationed in the jungle during WWII for 3 years before the general returns as a radioman. He didn’t talk much about the experience, but did talk about the fierce Pinoys and making tuba. Tuba is basically a wine that is made in 24 hrs and if it isn’t drank that day would be used as vinegar the next.

Tuba and lambanog are usually consume in the provinces.

just to add few more details: tuba is alcohol fermented from coconut. its done "home style: kind of local moonshine". can't be bought commercially, so you should know where to buy it from ( locals do). lambanog is a commercial bottle and it can be found in most liquor stores, specially at the local supermarkets ( but in the liquor area). the tang you mixed in your san miguel ginebra is calamansi flavored. it's a cross between lemon and sour orange? please correct me if i'm wrong. the local alcoholic drinks ( gin, vodka, rum, brandy) are a great options to get, but? of course they are rough, that's why they need a mixers...

"Lambanog" is a local drink from coconut trees. it's the common alcohol drink in Quezon province where i came from since we've many coconut plantations. "Lambanog" is a strong drink since it's 90-95% alcohol and don't cause hang over. "Tuba" is another drink from coconut trees, but lighter and sweet. you can buy those in souvenir shops in Manila. it's everywhere in store in Quezon province (2-3 hours South of Manila). goodluck and always be safe.
