So by this point KETV had Bob Cullinan as their sports director.... Geez, they went through so much personnel change in the 80s till Michael Scott joined ‘85

Is that when he became Carol Schrader's co-anchor?

Think so... Ted Mullins was out a year later, and Dan Gray was in by September. Along with that Rob Dixon left and was replaced with Jim Flowers, and the set, logo and news theme were changed accordingly. It was definitely 1985 when Michael Scott became anchor because he appears in the “You’ll Love It” promos which were ‘85. The amount of new Omaha content that’s been uploaded on this channel has helped out a lot.

@@theidjunkie5344 1983 brought big changes for KETV. Ted Mullins left in Feb of 83. That spring, the station debuted a new studio, the one with the skyline and the enclosed weather station and tv monitors, new music and blue graphics , replacing the rainbow/Polaroid camera-esque looking "7TV" branding and changed to the first version of the now familiar circle 7 logo. Dan Grey replaced Ted Mullins, Rob Dixon left in the spring and Jim Flowers moved from "Good Morning Omaha" to Chief Meteorologist at 5, [6], & 10. John Knicely joined as Sports Director in '84. I would love to see some newscasts from the 1983-89 era of KETV. Keep the clips coming. Love seeing these old Omaha news clips.

Ted Mullins moved to Sacramento and KTXL in 1983. There are some clips of him on KZbin from that station. Sadly, Ted passed away in 1990 after suffering a series of heart attacks. One source said he was only 50 years old when he passed. I always thought he was that age or even older when he was still at KETV. He was a good news anchor. He had been a sports director in Ohio and Sacramento before arriving at KETV in the fall of 1979.

Craig Hill I’m gonna guess the debut was in June 1983. That was when Joe Calhoun filled Jim’s spot in the mornings according to LinkedIn. Not only was KETV changing in 1983, their owner at the time, Pulitzer Broadcasting, was in the middle of acquiring two new stations: WYFF and WXII.

In light of the recent news about him, do you have any video of Ron Gerard at Ketv back in the day? I find it a baffling story. Why someone would do that after being semi famous IDK
