Six months after devastating flooding in Eastern Kentucky, the team at Kentucky Edition visited the area to see the progress being made on the road to recovery.
They found a broken housing market made worse by the flood still struggling to meet the demand for new homes. Infrastructure continues to be rebuilt, but it will be years before all is repaired and back to normal. They visited Appalshop which has restored much of its destroyed archives but wrestles with where to rebuild since their land was never previously considered in the floodplain. And with many homes still without gas for heat and hot water, there is still a strong need in the communities for a hot meal.
Many have stepped in to help and a lot of progress has been made, but there is still a lot of work to be done.
