Just finished this hack and it works great! Thanks for posting. I just snipped the green wire since that harness is nearly impossible to get to. Also cracked that silver trim piece on top during disassembly, but you can barely tell when I put it back together. Just a word of caution for those trying this who might care about that.

Thank you for your video! I have a K300 machine and this hack helped me. The K300 is a little different you have to disassemble the machine a little further to find the color sensor plug but it is on the other side of the printed circuit board. Same green wire removed made my machine function perfect with any non Keurig cup. Thanks again for this video as this has saved me from re-using old parts from the k-cups to use my machine!

Dude, thank you SO much for this! I've just had the outer ring from an old K-cup cut out to go around my reusables, but they wear out and even taping one over the sensor only lasts so long. I can't wait to go try this - you have just enhanced the most important part of my day!

Awsome! it worked like a charm. I used this information to do my Keurig 2.0 Carafe unit, the plug with the green wire is behind the black plastic outer cover on the water tank side, so I had to remove a few more things than your post but it worked good! Best permanent fix out there. Much better than cutting and gluing or breaking stuff off. Take your time taking it apart, be carefull not to break any tabs. Thanks for the video!!!!

Thank you for showing us how to 'fix this. My old Keurig 2.0 machine started showing the "Opps!" message on every K-cup. Yes, genuine K-cup and 2.0 compatible adapters. I actually had to remove the 4 other screws on the bottom to remove the back housing piece, because my hand was just to big to push the plug back in. She works like a charm, now!

I used this on a K400 Keurig 2.0 and it worked. The connector is placed between the plastic housing and the circuit board so I could not remove the connector without removing the housing which is too much trouble. I merely clipped the zip tie and then cut the green wire. Thanks for the easy fix bro....
@Leadloose8 жыл бұрын
I just bought a K475, the connector now is on the back so your not going to be able to disconnect the connector. Instead, i just cut the green wire and BAM it worked. The wires are the same, Keurig just move the mount to an inconvenience place. Do the needful, cut the green wire. Thanks so much for the video.

Just ought a 450 for my wife and went about hacking it before I ever even plugged it in. Had a little more trouble disassembling, but got it done. My board was configured slight different, with no visible plug like yours. I traced the multi colored wires from the lid down, and simply cut the same green wire. I would have preferred de-pinning it, like you did, but that would have required so much more work to access it. Thanks for the time posting this. Signed: another non-keurig K cup brewer!!

Here it is 2:45AM and I've just put my Keurig 2.0 400 back together without disconnecting or cutting any green wire. Circuit boards in mine are in a much different location. Looking at it from the front my board or board are just behind the Left side just under the water supply tank. I was unable to get to the connector without removing the whole outer shell of the Keurig so I gave up re-assembled and brewed a cup of EXPRESSO for a night cap. I just got mine late last month and maybe Keurig saw these posts and made it just a bit harder to access that puppy. I'll have to try again with some curved forceps and a couple hooks from the shop.

The Bad News: The K450 does NOT let you do this easily. The color sensor plug is on another side of the circuit board, under a plastic housing. It looks like they caught on to this and did what they could to hide it. The only way to reach it in this model (and maybe all newer models) is to tear apart the whole machine. Sides, top, guts... You simply can't get to the plug without doing so. That said, the hack works. The toughest part is getting the damned plastic parts to snap back together. Also, be careful of the hoses! You don't want a leak!

I have the Keurig 525C that is mostly sold at Costco. I tried every hack and this was the best one. But on the 525C it is the ORANGE WIRE and will get the FULL MENU so you can use the reusable carafes.
@yvs7079 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Works great! The hardest part is getting that plastic top part on/off (that was a son 0# a B1^c#!). Also my model had the connector on the other side, by the external wall. I had to do one extra step and take the wall off. Much better then taping a fake lid on a k-cup. ;)
@johnh46343 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate you showing how to disable the optic sensor, but I think I experienced anxiety watching you reassemble the Keurig. I am hoping this will work for me since I have replaced my needle assembly with an off brand unit and cannot access the full menu anymore. It shouldn't make a difference since I have been using the same load your own cups as when the Keurig was completely OEM.

I would like to thank you for this Kenneth, cutting the green and yellow worked perfectly for my Keurig K575 plus. I had purchased a Geesta clip and magnet kit, it didn't work. I had to tape a 2.0 foil to the clip over the orange square, it would only allow me to use the regular menu but gave me the ability to use any pod. That wasn't good enough for me after purchasing a 2.0 plus the orange 2.0 carafe pods and the Carafe I wanted my $200 worth. I used Ricky Bennett's video as a guide to which wires I should cut and found pulling that green wire with big man sausage fingers was impossible. So I Cut the green and said "I might as well cut the yellow while I'm in here because I don't want to open this again." and cut the yellow. With the Geesta T magnet in the lid I get the full menu with any pod! Happy Days :)

Green Wire magic awesomeness. Nice video rec and edits. Sound was perfect. Easy step by step descriptions narrated. Good voice quality. I especially love the ending. Bam!! p.s. For a hobbyist or coffee lover, this video is NOT too long. Length of this video demonstrates to the domo-viewer what the "hard parts" are for the user to deal with, and even these extra few seconds of finger-wrestling with the device cover are shortened through good post editing. All-in-all, a good comfortable demo on how to install a good hack on a daily-use fancy electrical kitchen device. Excellent. I love my Keurig(s), and now I am happy with 2.0 finally being UNLOCKED.

If anyone is going to take a chance on doing this, instead of cutting the wire and leaving it like that I would suggest putting a switch in line with the wires and mounting the switch on either the back of the Keurig or the bottom of it so that way if this fix doesn't work you can easily change it back by pressing the switch..... Rather than having to unscrew or take apart anything again.

It seems the k500 models are a little different that the other versions. I have the k450. You have to remove the outer shell and the connector is on the outside of the board on the water tank side. It is labeled sensor and just cut or disconect the green wire and bam, freedom! I also hacked the menu which is extremely simple. Open the part where you put the kcup in. There is a spring loaded peice that will move down. Push it down and on the right of it there is a hole. Push the peice down and shove like 4 toothpicks in that hole. It should keep the peice down when you take your finger off of it. The menu is unlocked! You gain six different modes(which I haven't looked up yet), but you lose your hot water selection. Big deal, just run it without a kcup, it's the same. My keurig is super awesome now! Good luck!

@@andydrew4601 the original hack video we did is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6CmdIWZlrB_a5I the carafe sensor is on the bottom and more difficult to get to you also solder the leads together same as the top vue cup sensor. Don’t remember though if this locks it into carafe mode and you have to put a switch in or not as it’s been years since we did it. Never did the video as it’s more disassembly than we felt necessary.

Well, I have a K550 and I cut the green wire I thought was going to the top connector and it didn't work. There are two green wires and all this finagling around at the board is pointless. The wire bundles go in front of the machine so it'd be a lot simpler to just show which bundle of wires is involved and which one to cut without dismantling the whole machine which is a royal PItA.

In freakin credible. Why go through all this when you don't have to? Not all machines have the same wiring as his and so many watchers are going to screw their machine up and so just go out and buy a 99 cent freedom clip and you can brew any cup you want. I just don't get why people are still trying all these hacks like it came out yesterday. The freedom clip has been out for almost a year and yet people are still trying all these meaningless hacks that the freedom clip does the same exact thing.
@GodsHeretic9 жыл бұрын
The Freedom Clip breaks, then you have to wait for another to ship. Plus, the carafe doesn't work with the Freedom Clip in place. This is an easy and permanent alternative.
