I've been a subscriber to your channel for a while and enjoy watching your Cricut, CTMH, etc. videos. Imagine my surprise when I did a search for how to get around the DRM features of my Keurig 2.0 and your videos came up in the results! I'm not sure how I've missed seeing these on your channel before, but thankful to find them now. I'll definitely be giving these hacks a try, especially the one for brewing a large travel size mug!

I didn't know anything about the Keurigs and since I work in retail I was never taught about the machines and how they work and what coffee,k-cups,etc are compatible with what Keurigs. Customers often ask me which K-Cups to buy and if they would work and I felt stupid lacking basic information to tell them but the funny thing is they still bought them. I was frustrated since it was a hot selling item and I didn't know what to say but now I feel more confident informing customers on the Keurigs and it's all thanks to you. I too enjoy a good cup of coffee and everyone good coffee lover deserves the same.

Ken, you are bang on the money. I have been looking at getting a new Keurig brewer and liked the 2.0 at first but saw issues with pods. I looked on the Keurig website this morning (after I watched your review) and saw this note on the vue section for brew pods: "Compatibility Note: Vue® packs are currently compatible only with Vue® Brewers. Over the next few months, all Vue® packs will be transitioned to also be compatible with the Keurig® 2.0 Brewing System. Check back regularly, and we’ll let you know when Vue packs can be used in your Keurig® 2.0 Brewer." So you're right, they will be making them compatible. Once that has been confirmed, the old brewer will be going to my parents country home and the new one will be at our home.

Loved your review...I found it very informative. I am a self proclaimed Keurig snob as I own 4 Keurigs, one is the Vue V700 and I love it. I emailed Keurig bc I heard they were not making any more models except the new 2.0 series, and after 2 days a Rep emails me back telling me that it's true. She said based on customer feedback that they decided to make the 2.0 per our request. So no more previous models but they will continue to assist those of us with our current models. :(

I knew something was up when I purchased my Vue from QVC for $119.00 and free shipping and it came with over 50 some Vue packs, and water filter. That was approx 7 months ago. You know how expensive the Vue V700 was. I love the Platinum Plus Series with the water on demand feature. I know that I will be weak and order the new 2.0 550, not the 350 or 450. QVC will be having a TSV on that very model in mid November, in time for the Holidays. It is currently available at QVC for $149 and a slew of coffee and 6 mo of water filtration. The bad part to that is that want over $15.00 to ship. They also have the 2.0 350 for $119 and a more coffee then the 550. Anyway it is still sad that they are doing away with the Platinum Plus as these are very popular and have gotten great reviews~ I will be looking forward to more videos from you, and thanks again!

I just bought our Keurig from Costco and I was very disappointed that there were no options to use other K cups. I got on Google to search for options and I came across this youtub video and now I am way more excited! THANK YOU!!! Next it would be nice to have the option to brew our own coffee using the K-cup filter attachment. The gray insert is way too big to fit in the holder, any workaround for that

Most of the Vue cups you buy have the colored dot on the left side and say compatible with 2.0 systems, so you do not have to tape another label on the Vue cups.

Hi Stephen! I have a Platinum Plus that uses K-Cups and I have a Vue V700, and I say that with the choice of the strong coffee feature on the Vue, that my coffee IS stronger then the Platinum Plus. My problem is that I love them both! FYI, Keurig is phasing out all models except the new 2.0 series! :(

The coffee for the 2.0 kcups is most definitely stronger if you check the strong option when brewing. I have tested it with normal and strong and there is a considerable difference in flavor. The 2.0 is soooo worth the upgrade and seems to be much better designed. My b70 machine broke so I sold it on eBay for parts and went out and grabbed this machine. It pumps the water out much different and I noticed that it pumps slower on a strong brew setting. If you don't have one, go get it! No disappointment here yet even with the new drm settings.

I bought both a pumpkin spice latte Vue pack and a chocolate mocha Vue pack from BB&B. They both had the checkmark and "compatible with Vue and 2.0" on the package and they both use option 5 for both steps. Definitely not sure what the difference between 2 and 3 or 4 and 6 is (maybe it is iced like you said as the Vue had different modes for each) but we'll see soon I guess. Love my 2.0 even with the DRM and the fact that they screwed me over with my Vue!!

Thanks for the tips! I had heard of the freedom clip, and had looked intoo getting one, as my older Keurig has just bitten the dust. I ought a K300 series just yesterday, and the hack of using the K2 rim worked fine. Until I saw your unboxing, I didn't realize that the costco version was so advanced AND that so much coffee / filter was included. The best deal is at Costco. You can get the 2.0 brewer with 48 pack of k-cups and a four pack of the carafe packs for 149 and Costco extends the warranty an extra year. I also buy an 80 pack of k-cups at Costco for around 35 dollars. Not a bad deal at all and also there are many ways to reuse the kcups with your own special coffee blend using replaceable caps or simply using foil.

Hi Ken, I was wondering what happens if you use the K-CARAFE lid (hack), but use a regular K-cup (instead of the regular vue cup)? The reason I ask is, because if it works (with one of the many 2.0 options), I can tape the K-Carafe lid permanently to the sensor (rather than placing it on top of the k-cup) and use any cup with full menus and never have an issue. Again, what happens with a non-branded k-cup, with the K-Carafe hack? Thanks! Chris

Don't know if you've discovered since posting this video, but it looks like you were right on the money about some of the additional, VUE-original settings probably coming to the 2.0. Looking at Keurig.com's site for beverages, 5 = Latte add-on (2-step process similar to Flavia brand) 2 = specifically sized for travel mug 4 might be 'decaf' - there is a separate # printed for decaf pods The Vue system also apparently has a over-ice option, so looks like you were on the right track w/ that for #3 for travel-sized cold, #6 for mug-sized iced Between your video & seeing what are currently Vue-options... looks like I'll be gifting myself w/ a Keurig 2.0 for the holidays!

Yes, the carafe Vue cup fits in the Vue machine. You just run 16 oz thru twice for 4 cup servings.. I used a Bubba mug (32 oz) but the Keurig carafe probably fits if it is 7 inches high. The stainless version is better insulated but I haven't tried it.

I taped a Vue label over a Vue sized Solo cup and filter. It isn't quite as big as the carafe cups (shall we call those C cups?), but I think most people can fit enough grounds into a Vue cup to make a decent carafe of coffee. Perhaps adjust the settings for how many cups if it seems too weak to you.

There are regular size refillable cups online now that fit the 2.0 . I haven't received mine yet so I got my EkoBrew refillable cup from our older Keurig to work in the 2.0. I took needle nose pliers and nibbled off the little "U-shaped" nubs on the side of the EkoBrew cup. Then I shaved off any remenants of the nubs with a utility razor. If you do this, you just have to make sure when you put it in the 2.0, you align it the same as if the nubs were there, nubs would be at 3 and 9 oclock or else the needle below will push into the Ekobrew cup. If you're not handy with a utility razor, just order one online that fits the 2.0 , no second chances with a utility razor. Also, there is a carafe size refillable cup coming soon . Rogers Family online offers a clip that snaps into the 2.0 , thus bypassing the drm lockout. They won in court against Keurig .

OK I taped a orange guitar pick to the left side of my refillable coffee filter (Refill-able filter is a red plastic the red plastic gives me a Opp's error) with the Tywrap holding it into K-carafe mode, and Orange plastic Guitar pick taped over the left side under the sensor area, it unlocked all modes, so you dont have to use the Keurig foil top from any of the K-cups or K-Carafe's I'll bet a colored plastic over the refillable coffee would also work

You don't need a piece of tin from an old cup...use a white paint marker....and with the new cups pull back the needle and black out the white ring except on that one sweet spot ant the main is bliss

Wanted to share with others that when the needle clogs make sure that you "DO NOT" insert the paper clip any further than a 1/4 of an inch. It will pierce the rubber elbow above the piercing k-cup needle. I am currently looking for a replacement elbow now for 1 of 4 keurig machines. I live in high alt and was instructed by keurig to use a paper clip. "lesson learned"

one other way take a clean vue pack put a k cup in first take it out then insert a vue or carafe cup then reinsert a kcup inside a vue carafe pack

Thanks for all the info... that's awesome! I've had a Keurig machine since day 1 that I love.... but its options (well, or lack thereof. lol) are quite outdated now, esp with all the new machines. And yep, it's been going strong for a good 6+ yrs now. (the key, imho... using only FILTERED water... always, no exceptions! I've been pretty horrible as far as keeping up/on-time with regard to the charcoal filter in the Vue machine... but, to me, it's kind of just a backup anyway, since I'm always pretty good w/ the fridge-filter, that then dispenses the properly filtered water) I did get that VUE machine shortly after they came out, because all I had heard & read led me to believe whole-heartedly that k-cups were going to be phased out very soon. (pffft.. we see how THAT turned out now, don't we... lol) So now... the lack of availability w/ those VUE cups, really aggravates me. I tried using one of those red adaptor-cups made for it- to use k-cups.... but that only VERY quickly clogged the sucka' right up.. wet coffee grounds forced up the needles is not fun.. Pumps running with drips of water barely coming out can't be good for it... I mean, nothing a paperclip & a few rinse cycles didn't fix (until NO grounds are going in the cup... & water pressure dispenses back to normal) scared me tho, thinking I had just ruined it! =/ This one, however.... would be a great option that would/could use ALL formats, which is a huge thumbs-up! While I love those hidden/upcoming menu options too, esp for size.. must admit I absolutely HATE that it's advertised as a carafe of coffee, etc.... yet only makes a max of 4 cups?? Boooo... Imho.... should be more like a traditional coffee maker "carafe" @ 10-ish.... with the same individual 1 by 1 cup option too... Ideally, making it a true all in one kind of machine. Wish this one still had the temp control too... once I add creamer, etc.. it's nice to have it still piping hot! :) Anyway.. thanks again for the tips/tricks & demos ... & for taking the time to not only share it all.. but even make these videos for all of us, too! Sip... sip.. enjoy!

I don't know that I'd want to wait that long for it to heat and reheat to make an entire 12 cup carafe. How about buying a second Keurig carafe and starting it as soon as the first one is done? Seems like the most inexpensive solution.

always choose the strong setting to length the pumps longevity just my opinion I don't like when u use the carafe setting it goes too fast or is it me?

It definitely doesn't pump any faster on the carafe setting. It just pumps a lot longer, and if you check "stronger", it will even pump slower.

Here is what i did, I noticed the spring loaded section from K-cup to K-Carafe mode and ty-wrapped it back into the K-Carafe mode the tywrap holds it into the K-Carafe mode then put a K-Carafe foil over it, so that the color sensor on the left side can read it, just holding in the K-Carafe mode, unlocks all the mode too. In the K-Carafe mode, I also tried to put other items other than the foil, like a leaf of basil, it went into K-cup mode as it detected the leaf color, and did Not give the opps error, I may try a few colors and see what works. using a Ty-wrap or Zip tie works great and is cheap and very easy to do.

The lever inside the machine for when you're putting in carafes cups/vue cups works magnetically to tell the machine a larger cup is in the unit and show the additional options. You can trick the machine into showing the full options without needing a larger vue cup/carafe lid! I just used a small spacer magnet to stick on the side of the lever. If the magnet tries to naturally pull towards the left hand side then it will work. If it tries to pull towards the right hand side, the polarity is wrong.. Flip the magnet over. Here's an image showing what I did... I have a k cup lid taped to the sensor, and combined with this magnet, I can use any k cup and have the full menu unlocked: i.imgur.com/0AVDFt3.png

Hi, I thought this might work: No magnets...Go ahead and use some non-gummy way of permanently sticking the K-Carafe label below the sensor (above the surface of the sensor port - so you don't even see it), next insert a K2V Vue cup (by Perfect Pod [K2V], Solofill, Kinba, or EZ-Cup, etc). This "K2V" adapter pushes the lever down (swinging the k-cup needle away), but HAS ITS OWN NEEDLE. Just pop any k-Cup in the Vue-to-K-Cup converter - and you'd get FULL MENUS in one step (without having to FIRST puncture a hole in your k-cup!). You can even use refillable K-Cups in the K2V adapter, or its own refillable Vue cup. If using regular (non-Keurig branded) Vue Cups or K-Carafes, just lift out the K2V converter and you still have FULL MENUS when using any Vue or the K-Carafe. I haven't tried this as I am receiving my K560 for Xmas, but have studied the reviews. Pls let me know what you think?

Or you can pop open the machine, find the color sensor connector, remove the green wire, and never worry about it again. As for the options menu-- Take a small magnet and tape it to the TOP front of the opening where there's a little block. That block is the sensor for the magnet. You can see where it matches up with the bottom magnet on the housing. Once taped in place, the menu ALWAYS gives these options.

I made a Cricut design space file of a K-Cup holder! us.cricut.com/design/#/canvas/35203283 Cut it out on chipboard or other thicker materials. For the stand you have to score a 12x12 piece of paper on 2 sides with 2" on each side. You can add it to the file or you can use a scoreboard! To put it together fold the 2" flaps in different directions and attach the opposite facing flaps on one side ONLY! Then glue the other two sides to the paper with the circles and then you will have a K-Cup stand that can hold 25 K-Cups of your choice! This file is free for anybody that owns a Cricut. Let me know what you think!
