Kevin and Kyra and John and Iris

Kev in Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick doing John Prine's delightful song "In Spite Of Ourselves," with Kyra doing the Iris DeMent part. I was surprised to learn Kevin plays mandolin. I knew about guitar, of course. Heck, I even saw The Bacon Brothers Band at the Philadelphia Folk Festival one year, and got to speak with him and shake his hand - that's right, I'm one degree of separation, and now you're two. But I didn't know this. And he plays it well, getting it to ring out good and proper. Made my day to hear him and Kyra doing this charming John Prine song.

I remember listening to this very video back in 2020. Some months later I couldn't find it. I think Kevin and Kyra took it off KZbin for a while. In addition to helping many of us get through COVID, this performance celebrates one of America's lesser known but still exemplary folk-song talents, who tragically was one of the early celebrity victims of COVID. It's a tragedy that John died.
